ITEC E-TOTAL 16 (ITEC E-T 16) is a Thermia inverter heat pump from the IVAR.HP iTec E range for family houses and apartments – for new builds as well as renovated buildings with a heat loss of up to 19 kW. It consists of a compact outdoor unit with an output of 3.4–16 kW and an indoor unit in the TOTAL version. The compressor's frequency inverter continuously adapts the output to the current heat loss of the house.

TOTAL indoor unit

The TOTAL version contains the control system, flow and return sensors, a speed-controlled circulation pump, a heating/DHW diverter valve, a 15 kW backup heater (400 V supply) and a 180 l stainless steel DHW cylinder with a TWS coil. The cabinet measures 596 × 690 × 1845 mm and weighs 106 kg when empty. Hot water has priority over heating and the cylinder is regularly heated up against legionella (every 7 days by factory default).

• SCOP 4.48 at 35 °C (underfloor heating) and 3.53 at 55 °C (radiators) for the average climate

Outdoor unit

Dimensions 940 × 330 × 1420 mm (W × D × H), weight 111 kg, 1" male-threaded heating water connections. Power supply 400 V 3~N 50 Hz, circuit breaker 16 A. The sound pressure level at a distance of 4 m is 49 dB(A), sound power 66 dB(A). The unit is anchored to a solid foundation and must not stand in an enclosed space; defrost condensate is drained through a heated drain, never into the sewer.

System design

• at least 160 l of heating water must always be available in the system for safe defrosting
• nominal flow 16 l/min, minimum pipe size 35 mm; the flow sensor is included in the delivery
• the controller handles one direct and one mixed circuit; with an expansion card a second mixed circuit or pool heating
• photovoltaic integration via Smart Grid (optional accessory); the HPC software is recommended for sizing

Installation: Installation, electrical connection and work on the refrigerant circuit with the mildly flammable R32 refrigerant may only be carried out by qualified specialists.

Frequently asked questions

What is included in the delivery?
The outdoor unit with condensate drain elbow, the TOTAL indoor unit, a ball valve with filter, an outdoor temperature sensor, a flow sensor and documentation. Connection fittings and flexible hoses are ordered separately as accessories.

How much hot water does the TOTAL version provide?
The built-in stainless steel cylinder has a volume of 180 l. According to EN 16147 it delivers 245 l of water at 40 °C with this heat pump size.

Can the heat pump also cool?
Yes, the cooling function is included in the basic version; the cooling output is 14 kW at A35/W18. Cooling pipework must be insulated with vapour-tight insulation to prevent condensation.

What maintenance does the heat pump need?
Check the heating system pressure once a month (0.8–1.5 bar), the safety valves at least four times a year and clean the dirt filter twice a year. Keep the outdoor unit free of snow, ice and leaves.
