The THERMIA ITEC XTR L PLUS (code IHP20785078) is an inverter air-to-water heat pump package: the ITEC XTR L compact outdoor unit with natural R290 refrigerant and the PLUS indoor unit. The DHW cylinder is chosen separately – ideal where a cylinder from another manufacturer, one larger than 180 l or one with a PV-powered immersion heater is planned.

ITEC XTR L outdoor unit

• output range 3–12 kW; at A7/W35, 12 kW output at 2.50 kW power input, COP 4.80
• SCOP 4.90 at 35 °C and 3.65 at 55 °C in average climate (4.23 / 3.18 in cold climate), energy class A+++ for underfloor heating and A++ for radiators
• flow temperature up to 75 °C, operation at outdoor temperatures from -25 to +35 °C
• natural R290 refrigerant with GWP 0.02 (charge 1.25 kg), scroll compressor with frequency inverter, electronic expansion valve and variable-speed fan
• cooling function as standard, including control of the cooling/heating changeover valve

PLUS indoor unit

The compact wall-mounted unit measuring 417 × 258 × 727 mm and weighing 21 kg contains the controller, circulation pump, flow temperature sensor, three-way heating/DHW diverter valve and a 15 kW integrated auxiliary heater. It connects with 28 mm copper pipe. As standard it controls one direct and one mixed heating circuit; with the expansion card also a second mixed circuit and pool heating. The optional Smart Grid function enables operation with photovoltaics, and remote monitoring is via Thermia Online.

Sizing and installation

Output is sized with Thermia HPC; the ITEC XTR range is designed for new and renovated buildings with heat losses up to 18 kW. The outdoor unit with flammable R290 refrigerant is installed outdoors on a solid base with vibration dampers, and there must be no windows, doors or ventilation openings within its safety zone. The heating system must be closed and pressurised, with a single 1.5 bar safety valve supplied with the outdoor unit and manual air vents only. The minimum flow through the condenser is 7 l/min; the supplied flow sensor is fitted indoors close to the outdoor unit, and a magnetic dirt separator goes in the return. The communication cable between the units may be up to 30 m long. Installation is carried out by a qualified company.

What is the difference between the PLUS, TOTAL and TOTAL COMPACT versions?
The PLUS version has an indoor unit without a cylinder, to which a separate DHW cylinder is connected. TOTAL contains a 180 l stainless steel cylinder with TWS technology, and TOTAL COMPACT offers the same equipment in a cabinet reduced to 1538 mm.
