Detailed information

Product detailed description

Extension for flue pipe Vaillant 0.5 m, Ø 110 mm (shaft system)

This single-wall pipe with a length of 0.5 m is intended for the so-called shaft system for exhaust of combustion gases, where the exhaust gases are led through a single pipe of Ø 110 mm placed in an existing vertical building shaft or chimney, while the combustion air for the boiler is drawn in through the free annular space between the pipe and the walls of the shaft. Unlike the concentric system Ø 110/160 mm (where both air and exhaust gases are led through one coaxial pipe), here the combustion air flows outside the pipe itself, directly in the shaft space – therefore, this part is used exclusively in combination with airtight sealed shafts with external air supply in the lower or upper part of the shaft according to the design.

The part is combined with other lengths (0.5 m and 1.0 m) and directional elements to the exact length of the vertical route in the shaft, while on the top and bottom of the assembly, transition and support components are connected to the boiler and to the exit from the shaft.

Shaft system Vaillant Ø 110 mm (LAS)

The single-wall pipe Ø 110 mm is intended for the so-called shaft system for exhaust of combustion gases (also collectively referred to by the acronym LAS – air-gas system through a shaft), where the exhaust gases are removed through a single pipe placed in an existing masonry or prefabricated shaft/chimney, while the combustion air for the boiler is drawn in through the free annular space between this pipe and the walls of the shaft. This type of connection is mainly used for larger condensing gas boilers Vaillant (ecoTEC plus high performance, ecoCRAFT exclusiv, ecoVIT exclusiv) installed in apartment buildings, boiler rooms and machine rooms, where a vertical building shaft is available and it is not desirable to lead a separate concentric system through the façade.

The pipe is made of polypropylene (PP) with high resistance to condensate and acidic components of exhaust gases (class W according to EN 14471), temperature class T120, pressure class P1. The connections are solved by a locking neck system with rubber sealing, which ensures reliable gas tightness for vertical and slightly inclined routing in the shaft. Since the system operates in both negative and positive pressure modes depending on the type of boiler, each component must be from the certified range of Vaillant – combination with non-original parts from other manufacturers is not acceptable and is in conflict with the conditions of CE certification of the entire assembly and the boiler warranty.

Comparison with systems with an existing shaft and without it

In addition to concentric (double-wall) systems Ø 60/100, 80/125 and 110/160 mm, Vaillant also offers a single-wall solution Ø 110 mm for the shaft (LAS) installation method, to which this part also belongs. While concentric systems lead exhaust gases and combustion air through one coaxial pipe and are suitable mainly where the route leads through the façade or free space without an existing shaft, the single-wall shaft system uses an existing building shaft as a natural air channel around the exhaust pipe. The choice between the two approaches depends on the layout of the specific building – in reconstructions with an available original chimney shaft, the shaft system is usually structurally simpler and cheaper, while in new buildings without such a shaft, the concentric system is almost always chosen.

Compatibility

The extension 0.5 m Ø 110 mm is intended exclusively for the Vaillant shaft (LAS) system for exhaust of combustion gases, where the exhaust gases are led through this single-wall pipe and the combustion air flows freely in the space around it in the existing building shaft. It is used with the same boiler models as the concentric system Ø 110/160 mm (ecoTEC plus high performance, ecoCRAFT exclusiv, ecoVIT exclusiv), but differs in the method of supply of combustion air – it is not suitable to combine these two systems without a transition part specifically designed for this purpose.

Typical application scenarios

This short part is used for fine adjustment of the exact length of the vertical route in the shaft, when the remaining distance after assembling the longer extensions (1.0 m) does not correspond to an integer multiple – the 0.5 m variant allows for precise adjustment to the desired height without the need for any cutting of the pipe on site.

How to choose between the shaft and concentric system

Choose the shaft system Ø 110 mm (this part) when the building has an existing suitable vertical building shaft with a defined supply of combustion air – typically in reconstructions of apartment buildings with an original chimney body. If such a shaft is not available, or the route is to be led through the façade, the concentric system Ø 110/160 mm is the choice, where one pipe leads both exhaust gases and combustion air without the need for an existing shaft.

Installation and use

The 0.5 m extension is inserted into the vertical route in the shaft with the same bayonet lock with sealing as in the concentric system. During installation, it is necessary to:

  • verify that the shaft meets the requirements for the supply of combustion air (free, unobstructed space, sufficient cross-section around the pipe, airtight separation from other parts of the building according to the design),
  • stabilize the pipe in the shaft using distance brackets or rings so that the free cross-section for air flow is maintained around the entire circumference,
  • maintain a minimum slope towards the boiler for condensate drainage,
  • perform a tightness and functionality check of the air supply through the shaft before putting into operation according to the installation instructions for the specific boiler model,
  • keep access to the inspection elements of the assembly (inspection T-elbow, inspection piece) in the lower part of the shaft for regular chimney inspections.

Safety warnings

Installation of the shaft (LAS) system for exhaust of combustion gases requires not only a professional installation company but also a prior assessment of the structural condition and suitability of the shaft by an authorized technician – an incorrectly dimensioned or leaky supply of combustion air through the shaft can endanger the safe operation of the boiler. Use only original Vaillant parts of the corresponding diameter; combination with non-original parts or any unauthorized modification (e.g., cutting the pipe) is not acceptable and is in conflict with the certification of the entire assembly and the boiler warranty. After installation or any intervention in the route, a tightness and functionality check of the air supply is necessary before putting the boiler into operation.

Maintenance and care

We recommend checking the exhaust system at least once a year during regular boiler service – especially the tightness of the connections, the passability of the condensate drain (if part of the assembly), and the mechanical fastening throughout the entire route. It is advisable to visually inspect the external plastic parts (roof extensions, through-pieces) after the winter period for possible mechanical damage from ice or wind. The inside of the pipes does not accumulate deposits during normal operation as in classic chimneys for solid fuel, but the inspection elements in the assembly (inspection elbows, inspection pieces, T-pieces) are precisely for this purpose, so that the service technician can easily look inside the pipe and clean it if necessary without the need to disassemble the entire route.

For boilers with a longer exhaust route, we recommend keeping a simple service record of the date of the last tightness check and the condition of the inspection openings – this will facilitate planning of further chimney inspections and provide clarity in the event of a complaint or property sale.

Why to buy this part at Atria.sk

We offer exclusively original Vaillant parts with 100% compatibility with exhaust systems of this brand – no universal replacements of questionable quality that could endanger the gas tightness of the entire assembly or void the boiler warranty. The product is usually in stock or quickly available from the supplier, so the boiler installation or service does not have to wait for one missing part. If you are unsure which exact part you need for your system, we will help you by phone or email – just provide the boiler model and the length of the exhaust route you need to cover.

We process orders within one working day and ship the product immediately if it is in stock. Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between this part and the extension Ø 110/160 mm?

This extension Ø 110 mm is single-walled and is used in the shaft (LAS) system, where air flows freely in the shaft space around the pipe. The pipe Ø 110/160 mm, on the other hand, is double-walled (concentric) and carries both air and exhaust gases in one coaxial assembly without the need for an existing shaft.

Can this pipe be used outside the shaft, for example on a façade?

No, the single-walled system Ø 110 mm is certified exclusively for use in a closed building shaft with a defined supply of combustion air – outside the shaft (e.g., on a free façade), a concentric system Ø 60/100, 80/125 or 110/160 mm must be used.

How is this pipe combined with the length of 0.5 m or 1.0 m?

The individual lengths (0.5 m and 1.0 m) can be freely combined with a bayonet lock, just like in the concentric system, to achieve the exact required height of the vertical route in the shaft.

Is it necessary to modify the shaft in any way before installation?

Yes, the shaft must be checked and possibly modified before installation to meet the requirements for cross-section, air tightness against other parts of the building, and supply of outside air according to the project documentation and boiler installation instructions.

Who can assess the suitability of an existing shaft for this system?

The suitability of the shaft is assessed by an authorized designer or inspection technician/chimney sweep in cooperation with the installation company, even before ordering specific parts of the assembly.

Can this extension be used outside the shaft, for example inside a technical room?

No, the single-walled system Ø 110 mm is certified only for operation in a closed building shaft with a defined supply of combustion air – outside the shaft, uncontrolled air access and exhaust gas leakage into the space may occur, so a concentric system must be used outside the shaft.

How is this pipe connected to parts of the system Ø 110/160 mm?

It does not connect directly – it is a different system with a different air supply principle. The transition between the concentric and shaft system is solved by a specialized transition/junction part, which is selected according to the specific project.

Is it necessary to handle condensate drainage differently in the shaft system compared to the concentric system?

The principle of condensate drainage is the same – by sloping the pipe towards the boiler or the condensate collection point; the difference is only that air in the shaft system does not flow in close proximity to the pipe, but freely in the shaft space.

Is it necessary to plan a different condensate drainage route in the shaft system compared to the concentric system?

The principle is the same – condensate drains by the slope of the pipe towards the boiler or the collection point; the condensate drainage pipe remains part of the boiler, not the shaft pipe itself.

Can the length of 0.5 m be combined with parts longer than 1.0 m from this range?

Yes, if longer variants of the same diameter for the shaft system are available in the range, they can be freely combined with this 0.5 m part using the same bayonet lock.

Is the consent of the building manager required to use a common shaft for this system?

Yes, since it involves an intervention in the common parts of the building, the use of an existing building shaft for exhaust gases usually requires the consent of the manager or the owners' association and assessment by professional technicians/designers.

Is this pipe color-coded differently from the concentric system to avoid confusion during installation?

Pipes of the single-walled shaft system have different dimensions and type markings from the concentric system Ø 110/160 mm, so confusion is practically impossible with careful checking of the type marking before installation.

Do I need a separate gasket for this pipe, or is it part of the part?

The gasket for the bayonet connection is part of the part itself from the factory, so it does not need to be ordered or installed separately.
