Detailed information

Product detailed description

Insulation caps for unused inlets (6 pcs) are original Vaillant accessories (code 0020243643) designed for additional sealing and insulation of free, unused connecting nozzles on buffer (accumulation) tanks of the series Vaillant VPS R 100/1 M and VPS R 200/1 B. The package contains 6 caps with an insulation thickness of approximately 73 mm, which can be easily mounted directly onto G 1½" threaded nozzles if not all connecting points of the tank are used in a given installation.

What these caps are used for

Buffer tanks Vaillant VPS R 100/1 M and VPS R 200/1 B typically have 8 G 1½" connecting nozzles on the shell, allowing flexible connection to various hydraulic schemes - single-zone and multi-zone systems, combination with a heat pump, or even cooling. However, in a standard installation, it is not necessary to use all nozzles at once. An unused nozzle without an insulation cap represents a thermal bridge - heat from the stored water escapes through the non-insulated metal connection into the machine room or technical room, increasing the tank's heat losses and reducing the actual efficiency of the entire heating or hot water system.

Insulation caps eliminate this loss - they cover and insulate the free nozzle with the same (or comparable) insulation thickness as the tank shell itself, maintaining a consistent thermal insulation envelope of the vessel. The result is lower system energy consumption, more stable temperature of the stored water, and a longer period during which the tank retains heat without the need for reheating.

Compatibility

  • Vaillant uniSTOR VPS R 100/1 M - buffer/separator tank with a volume of 101 l, mainly intended for heat pumps aroTHERM, flexoCOMPACT and flexoTHERM
  • Vaillant uniSTOR VPS R 200/1 B - buffer/separator tank with a volume of 202 l for heating and cooling

The caps are compatible exclusively with standard G 1½" nozzles on these two tank models. When ordering a heat pump with a buffer tank, we recommend planning the hydraulic connection scheme in advance (number of used inlets/outs, possible future expansion with a second heating zone, solar circuit, etc.) - based on this, it will be determined how many nozzles will remain free and how many insulation caps will be needed.

Installation

The installation is simple and can be handled by any heating engineer or installation company during the standard installation of the tank:

  1. Check which of the G 1½" connecting nozzles on the tank shell remain unused in the given hydraulic scheme.
  2. Ensure that the nozzle is properly sealed with a suitable plug/stopper from the perspective of pressure tightness (the insulation cap itself does not replace the pressure sealing of the thread, only thermally insulates it).
  3. Mount the insulation cap onto the nozzle so that it sits on the tank shell and smoothly continues the existing tank insulation.
  4. Check that the cap is firmly in place and does not loosen - it could fall off during vibrations or handling in the technical room.

The installation can be carried out at any time during or after the tank installation, i.e., even retroactively, if the originally planned connection has changed and some nozzle is no longer used.

Why buy original accessories

Using original Vaillant caps instead of improvised solutions (e.g., wrapping the nozzle with insulation tape or wool) has several advantages - the caps are specifically shaped for the given type of nozzle and the thickness of the tank shell, visually appear as part of the device, and maintain stable insulation properties over a long period without material degradation. At the same time, they do not affect the manufacturer's warranty, which could be jeopardized by the use of non-original or unsuitable materials in the immediate vicinity of a pressure vessel.

Frequently asked questions

How many caps do I need?
It depends on the specific hydraulic connection scheme of the tank. The package contains 6 pcs, which in practice usually covers all unused nozzles on one VPS R 100/1 M or VPS R 200/1 B tank.

Is it possible to buy the caps separately, one by one?
Vaillant supplies this part as a 6 pcs package under one order number (0020243643).

Does the cap also replace the pressure plug of the nozzle?
No, the insulation cap only addresses thermal insulation. The nozzle itself must be closed with a suitable pressure plug according to the project documentation and applicable regulations for pressure equipment.

Easter Bunny in the logo - intended for the success of the company

Pink dwarfs and cute animals stand around and admire the miracle of the egg. Johann Vaillant is fascinated by the scene and decides to buy both the picture and the copyright. For Vaillant, this means the establishment of its brand and an extremely successful story.

Very distinctive brand profile

Since 1899, the motif has adorned all products, catalogs and brochures. In a few short years, Vaillant built an excellent reputation that spread throughout Germany and even beyond its borders. Vaillant gave its logo clear lines and outlines. "The Bunny in the Egg" remains the central theme, but the word "Vaillant" is added.

Many Germans know that the Vaillant Bunny belongs to a company based in North Rhine-Westphalia. Moreover: more than 70% of all Germans have heard of the company Vaillant. In Austria and the Netherlands, the company achieves similar results for its image.
