Detailed information

Product detailed description

Vaillant VAZ CPCW/2 is a wireless wall control panel with an integrated CO&sub2; sensor and humidity sensor for the recoVAIR VAR 60/2 DW system. It is the most comprehensive control solution in the entire VAZ range – combining wireless installation without the need to run cables with automatic regulation based on the actual air quality in the room.

Functions and control

The control panel allows you to set all operating modes of the recoVAIR system: manual power level selection, automatic mode, monitoring mode, intensive ventilation, night ventilation with quieter operation, cross ventilation, and a separate supply or exhaust air mode. Four ventilation intensity levels are available (night, 1, 2, 3) as well as humidity threshold setting. The backlit touch display continuously shows the current mode, ventilation and humidity level, humidity threshold exceeded warning, and filter replacement notification.

Benefit of the integrated CO&sub2; sensor

Carbon dioxide concentration in the air is one of the most reliable indicators of indoor air quality and how "stale" it has become. While relative humidity mainly indicates the risk of condensation and mould, CO&sub2; is directly related to fatigue, reduced concentration, and the subjective feeling of "stuffiness" in a room, especially in bedrooms during sleep or in home offices and children's rooms. The integrated CO&sub2; sensor in this panel allows the recoVAIR system to automatically increase ventilation intensity when the CO&sub2; concentration exceeds the set limit, and reduce it back to a more economical mode once the air is fresh again – instead of you having to estimate or manually set the ventilation intensity by feel.

Installation and mounting

Installation of the recoVAIR VAR 60/2 unit consists of a core drill hole with a diameter of 162 mm through the perimeter wall, into which the mounting tube is fitted (an insulated plastic tube available in a length of 500 mm, which can be shortened, or in the case of thicker walls up to 1,000 mm, two tubes can be combined in sequence). On the exterior side, the opening is covered with a white outer cover with a noise silencer, type VAZ WD160, which also protects against rain and insect ingress and reduces the transmission of outdoor noise into the interior. The unit itself is inserted into the prepared mounting tube from the inside and connected to the 230 V/50 Hz electrical mains.

The DW variant units communicate wirelessly on the radio frequency 868.0 – 868.6 MHz, which is an ideal solution for renovations without demolition, in heritage-protected buildings, or anywhere running a new cable between rooms would be complicated, expensive, or structurally problematic. Pairing of units is done simply via the service menu; the radio connection range in a typical masonry building is sufficient for the usual distances between rooms in a house or flat.

The unit's operating temperature ranges from −30 °C to +50 °C, so the recoVAIR VAR 60/2 reliably operates even during freezing Slovak winters and hot summers. The IPX4 protection rating ensures resistance to splashing water from the facade side. Installation can be completed by an experienced heating engineer, electrician, or ventilation specialist within one day per room, without requiring a building permit (this is considered routine maintenance/modernisation of the building envelope; however, we recommend checking local regulations for heritage-protected facades).

The choice between individual models depends on two independent criteria: whether your installation uses wired (D) or wireless (DW) communication between the units, and whether you require automatic power regulation based on measured CO&sub2; concentration in the air, or whether regulation based on a set humidity level and manual power levels is sufficient for you.

Recommended placement of the control panel

We recommend placing the wall control panel at the height of a standard light switch (approx. 1.2 – 1.4 m above the floor) on an interior wall of the room, away from direct draught from the ventilation unit outlet and away from direct sunlight, so that the integrated humidity and CO&sub2; sensors measure representative values for the entire room rather than locally distorted readings caused by air flow right next to the unit. We also recommend avoiding placement directly behind doors or in a corner behind furniture, where natural air circulation is limited.

Mounting the panel on the wall is simple, but we recommend entrusting the wiring and pairing with the ventilation units (especially in the wired variant, where a communication cable needs to be run) to an experienced electrician or ventilation specialist, to ensure correct operation from the very first commissioning.

Maintenance and filters

The recoVAIR VAR 60/2 unit uses a pair of filters – one ISO Coarse 45% class on the supply (outdoor) air side and one ISO Coarse 30% class on the exhaust (indoor) air side. Depending on operating conditions (urban environment, pollen season, proximity to a busy road), filters should be checked and replaced approximately 2 to 4 times per year; the display on the control panel or remote control will alert you when replacement is needed. Filter replacement is a maintenance-free operation requiring no service intervention – the filter cartridge is simply slid out and replaced with a new one.

The ceramic heat storage exchanger is a maintenance-free component with no moving parts, which under normal operation requires no cleaning or replacement throughout the unit's service life. We recommend having the fan checked once every few years during a regular service inspection of the heating/ventilation system, although it is a component designed for long-term maintenance-free operation.

Why choose this particular model

The VAZ CPCW/2 is the choice for more demanding users who want maximum comfort even with a wireless installation – the system automatically detects deteriorating air quality and increased humidity without needing to run a communication cable between the panel and the units. Ideal for renovations where you don't want to interfere with finished surfaces, while still wanting the highest level of ventilation automation.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between CPCW/2 and CPW/2?

The CPCW/2 additionally features an integrated CO2 sensor enabling automatic ventilation power control based on air quality; the CPW/2 does not have this feature.

Is wireless communication with the CO2 sensor as reliable as the wired CPC/2 variant?

Yes, radio communication at 868 MHz is reliable in typical building structures over the usual distances within a home; the CO2 sensor's output is transmitted just as accurately as with the wired version.

Is this variant compatible with the wired D unit?

No, for the wired recoVAIR VAR 60/2 D unit, the wired panel variant VAZ CPC/2 with the same CO2 sensor is intended.

Does installing this panel require a professional?

Mounting on the wall is straightforward, but we recommend entrusting the wiring and pairing with the units to an experienced electrician or ventilation specialist.

How many units can this panel control?

The panel can wirelessly control a system of up to 16 units (1 leader and 15 followers) with automatic regulation based on CO2 and humidity.

Checking compatibility by order code

Vaillant products are identified in internal documentation and price lists by a ten-digit order code (e.g. 0010047347 for the VAZ CPCW/2 panel), which uniquely identifies the specific product variant, including the communication interface (wired/wireless) and the presence of a CO&sub2; sensor. When ordering, we always recommend comparing the order code with the documentation of your existing installation to select the exact matching communication type for your recoVAIR units.

Service, distribution, and spare parts availability in Slovakia

Vaillant has an established network of authorised service partners and wholesale distribution of spare parts in Slovakia, ensuring long-term availability of accessories for the recoVAIR range (mounting tubes, outer covers, control panels, filters, and small parts such as damping inserts), even after sales of a specific unit generation have ended. When ordering any accessory, we always recommend specifying the exact production code listed on the unit or in its documentation to ensure 100% compatibility with your specific installation (especially when distinguishing between the VAR 60/1 and VAR 60/2 generations, which differ in some components).

When purchasing at atria.sk, you can count on expert advice in selecting the right accessories for your specific recoVAIR unit model, as well as the option to order other related Vaillant products (boilers, heat pumps, water heaters) within a single order.

Practical tip for ordering and installation

Before ordering the VAZ CPCW/2 panel, we recommend verifying whether your existing or planned recoVAIR unit installation uses wired (D) or wireless (DW) communication, as CP/CPC (wired) and CPW/CPCW (wireless) panels are not interchangeable. We recommend entrusting the electrical wiring and pairing of the panel with the units to a qualified electrician or ventilation specialist.
