What it is used for

SMARTY 3X V (code IVU300V) is a central ventilation unit with heat recovery for apartments, family homes and passive houses. It extracts stale air and excess moisture and replaces it with fresh outside air, which is preheated in the heat exchanger by the heat from the exhaust air – the house is ventilated without opening windows and with minimal heat loss.

The unit is mounted on a wall and can be installed, for example, above a washing machine. The version with an enthalpic heat exchanger has the code IVU300VE (SMARTY 3X VE).

Construction and equipment

• plastic counterflow plate heat exchanger with a thermal efficiency of 89 % (data according to EU Regulation 1254/2014), energy efficiency class A+ for average climate
• EC fans with variable speed control – power consumption at maximum flow 177 W, reference specific power index SPI 0.27 W/(m³/h), sound power level 49 dB(A)
• summer bypass with a servomotor for 100 % bypass of the heat exchanger and night cooling
• Coarse 65 % (G4) filters on the supply and exhaust side, dimensions 475 × 180 × 25 mm (exhaust) and 475 × 134 × 25 mm (supply); for outside air, it is possible to use ePM1 70 % (F7) filters
• enclosure made of galvanized steel with powder coating in white RAL 9016 color (corrosion resistance C3), thermal and acoustic insulation from EPP with thickness 30 mm, tightness class A1
• built-in electric preheater 1.2 kW

Control and accessories

The integrated control board miniMCB measures the temperature of the outside, supplied and extracted air and controls the fans, bypass and external components (preheater, reheater, air regulators). It offers three manual modes, intensive ventilation (boost), a timer, night cooling, a mode for wood-burning stoves and intelligent anti-frost protection; it is possible to connect a CO2 sensor (IVAR.CO2) or a humidity sensor.

The controller is not part of the unit – a wall controller (IVAR.TCP, IVAR.ST-SA, IVAR.STOUCH) or the interface IVAR.MB-GATEWAY, which allows control from a PC and via the IVAR.SMARTYAIR app on a smartphone or tablet, must be ordered separately. As an optional feature, an electric reheater IVAR.EKA NI (1.2 kW) is available, which requires control via GRGT034. For connecting ISO pipe DN 160, the sealing kit ZIZG0007SET is used.

Installation

The dimensions of the unit (width × depth × height) are 599 × 538 × 810 mm, weight 46 kg. It is powered from a single-phase network 230 V / 50 Hz, total power consumption / current draw is 1.43 kW / 7 A. The unit operates inside the building at ambient temperatures of 5 to 40 °C and ambient humidity up to 70 %; without anti-frost protection, it can process outside air from -15 °C. Anti-frost protection works with an imbalance of flows and can create negative pressure in the house – for appliances that draw air from the room (stove, boiler), the manufacturer recommends turning it off and using a preheater. It is not installed in living rooms without additional noise insulation and is not intended for pools or saunas. Installation, electrical connection and maintenance must be carried out only by a qualified technician and the unit must be grounded.

What is included in the delivery and what needs to be ordered separately?
You will receive a trap and a bracket together with the unit. The controller (IVAR.TCP, IVAR.ST-SA, IVAR.STOUCH or interface IVAR.MB-GATEWAY) and ventilation ducts must be ordered separately.

Where should the unit not be installed?
Only in living rooms with additional noise insulation and never in pools, saunas or similar spaces. The unit is intended for interior use with ambient temperatures of 5 to 40 °C and humidity up to 70 %.

How often are the filters changed?
The manufacturer recommends changing them every 3 to 4 months or sooner according to the warning on the controller. Coarse 65 % (G4) filters with dimensions 475 × 180 × 25 mm (exhaust) and 475 × 134 × 25 mm (supply) are used, as well as ePM1 70 % (F7) for outside air; the unit must not be operated without filters.

Does the unit have its own preheater?
Yes, SMARTY 3X V has a built-in electric preheater of 1.2 kW and without anti-frost protection it operates with outside air from -15 °C. To reheat the supplied air, it is possible to add IVAR.EKA NI with control via GRGT034.
