Backflow preventer DISCONNECTOR BRA.ECO 3T – 2", L = 428 mm, threaded – SALE
Code: ECO3T200Product detailed description
How the disconnector works
The BRA.ECO 3T is a threaded backflow preventer with a controllable reduced pressure zone. The body contains two spring-loaded check valves and, between them, an intermediate chamber with a safety relief valve. Under normal flow the pressure in the intermediate chamber is at least 140 mbar lower than at the inlet and the relief valve stays closed. If the inlet pressure drops (for example when the supply fails) or the pressure in the user network rises above that of the public network, the valve opens, empties the intermediate chamber to the drain and separates the two networks.
The device protects against fluids up to category 4 according to EN 1717, for example when connecting boilers, washing machines, industrial plants, laboratories or fire brigade equipment. For category 5 (microbiological and viral risk) an air gap is required. Although its nominal pressure to EN 12729 is PN 10, the manufacturer also permits its use in fire-fighting networks with operating pressure up to 12 bar.
Design
- body and upper cover of CuSn5Zn5Pb2 bronze
- EPDM seals
- test ports with mini valves for measuring the pressure upstream and in the intermediate chamber, function test with the ECO3 TEST kit
- removable cover for easy maintenance
- 2" threaded connection to ISO 228/1, length 428 mm, weight 13 kg, Kv 38.6 m³/h
Installation
The disconnector is installed horizontally with the relief valve facing down, in an accessible, ventilated place protected from frost and flooding. Upstream go a shut-off valve and a strainer with drain plug – without a strainer the device does not work properly – and downstream a second shut-off valve. The relief valve must be connected to the drain via the drain funnel that is part of the product, and the water must run off by gravity. Have the installation carried out by a qualified professional.

Frequently asked questions
Why must a strainer be fitted upstream of the disconnector?
According to the manufacturer the strainer is essential for correct operation – otherwise dirt and debris from the pipework would cause malfunctions. It is fitted between the upstream shut-off valve and the disconnector and must have a drain plug.
Does the disconnector have to be connected to the drain?
Yes. During backflow the intermediate chamber empties through the safety relief valve, so it is connected to the drain via the funnel that is part of the product; the water must run off by gravity.
Is it suitable for all fluid categories?
No, it protects against fluids up to category 4 according to EN 1717. For category 5, i.e. fluids with a microbiological or viral risk, separation by an air gap is required.
How is the disconnector's function checked?
The pressure upstream and in the intermediate chamber is measured via the test ports with mini valves, for example with the ECO3 TEST kit. During the test the pressure gauge must be at the same height as the device.

IVAR designs, develops and manufactures highly energy-efficient heating and plumbing systems. We have over 10,000 catalogue items - mass-produced products and unique items - in addition to customised systems and combinations of complex products. And it’s all “Made in Italy”.
Vision
To make life easier for our clients, our clients' customers and our employees, thanks to our ability to be constantly innovative.
Mission
To design and manufacture advanced hydronic solutions that reduce installation complexity and energy consumption.
“Made in Italy” adds value
IVAR has been producing heating and plumbing system components since 1985: valves for heating bodies, direct heat metering modules, heat cost allocators, pipes and fittings, substations for heating systems, distribution manifolds, radiant panel systems, and components for solar and geothermal systems. And it’s all “Made in Italy”.
Over 200 people are employed at our manufacturing facilities in Prevalle (in northern Italy’s Brescia province). The site has been designed to streamline our many production and operational stages.
The Italian headquarters also acts as a hub for the wider IVAR Group, set up with the goal of distributing products beyond Italy’s borders. The group now has 11 branches, in Australia, Belgium, China, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, the United States and Tunisia.
Know How
Research, development and numerous laboratory tests guarantee that our clients’ requests can be translated into new high-efficiency products.
The stages required for production take place internally, beginning with hot forming, which is carried out at our subsidiary Valmon Stampati. Our continuous implementation of projects under the Industry 4.0 initiative also allows us to take full advantage of new releases in technology and IT to improve our manufacturing efficiency.
As a company, IVAR is constantly evolving. Every day, we invest in strengthening our products, in improving our production processes and in attaining new patents and certifications.
