Detailed information

Product detailed description

IVAR.DEFEMN 030 is a column filter designed to remove iron and manganese from drinking and service water. It comes with a programmable, fully electronic WSCI unit that controls regeneration by time or by the volume of water that has passed. To work properly it needs a proportional dosing pump that doses sodium hypochlorite into the water at a concentration meeting drinking water requirements. The unit is certified for drinking water (RÚVZ Poprad).

Size 030

  • indicative operating flow 0.8 m³/h – the actual value depends on the overall water contamination and is set by the treatment plant design
  • dimensions 230 × 230 × 1315 mm (W × D × H), at least 200 mm of free space above the filter
  • inlet and outlet 1", max. operating pressure 6 bar
  • water temperature 5–35 °C, dry surroundings at 5–40 °C
  • placement on a level surface; on brackets only if the weight is evenly distributed

The DEFEMN range with the 5-button unit covers sizes 030 to 500 with flow rates from 0.8 to 14.7 m³/h.

Installation requirements

  • connection to a sewer drain with sufficient capacity – the drain port on the control unit is 3/4" male thread
  • a 230 V socket within reach of the power adapter
  • shut-off valves, pressure gauges and sampling valves on both inlet and outlet
  • a lockable bypass for the whole treatment plant and for the filter itself
  • a dosing pump, a pulse water meter and a stock solution tank
  • a recommended granular activated carbon filter at the outlet

For start-up an oxidising agent for the dosing pump must be available; 3 litres is usually enough. Dosing is set by the technician during commissioning.

Commissioning: after installation the filter is first flushed thoroughly at an inlet pressure of at least 3 bar with the outlet kept closed, so that no turbid water reaches the building's pipework. Once clear water runs from the drain, an authorised technician sets up and starts the unit – otherwise the right to warranty repairs is lost. A 24-month warranty covers material defects.

Frequently asked questions

Does the filter work without a dosing pump?
No. The DEFEMN filter must be complemented with a proportional dosing pump that doses sodium hypochlorite. A pulse water meter and a stock solution tank are also needed.

What flow rate can the DEFEMN 030 filter handle?
Approximately 0.8 m³/h with a 1" connection. The actual flow depends on the overall water contamination, so the technical design is decisive.

What should be installed after the filter?
A granular activated carbon filter is recommended at the outlet. Both the whole treatment plant and the filter itself should have a bypass with shut-off valves.

Who commissions the filter?
The customer flushes the filter after installation; the technician carries out the setup including dosing of the oxidising agent. Without commissioning by an authorised company, the right to warranty repairs is lost.

To make life easier for our clients, our clients' customers and our employees, thanks to our ability to be constantly innovative.

Mission
To design and manufacture advanced hydronic solutions that reduce installation complexity and energy consumption.

“Made in Italy” adds value

IVAR has been producing heating and plumbing system components since 1985: valves for heating bodies, direct heat metering modules, heat cost allocators, pipes and fittings, substations for heating systems, distribution manifolds, radiant panel systems, and components for solar and geothermal systems. And it’s all “Made in Italy”.
Over 200 people are employed at our manufacturing facilities in Prevalle (in northern Italy’s Brescia province). The site has been designed to streamline our many production and operational stages.

The Italian headquarters also acts as a hub for the wider IVAR Group, set up with the goal of distributing products beyond Italy’s borders. The group now has 11 branches, in Australia, Belgium, China, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, the United States and Tunisia.

Know How
Research, development and numerous laboratory tests guarantee that our clients’ requests can be translated into new high-efficiency products.

The stages required for production take place internally, beginning with hot forming, which is carried out at our subsidiary Valmon Stampati. Our continuous implementation of projects under the Industry 4.0 initiative also allows us to take full advantage of new releases in technology and IT to improve our manufacturing efficiency.

As a company, IVAR is constantly evolving. Every day, we invest in strengthening our products, in improving our production processes and in attaining new patents and certifications.
