IVAR.DESAND 045-5 column filter for removing sludge from water – 1" connection, 5-button WSCI control unit
Code: IVA.604.DS5Related products
Product detailed description
IVAR.DESAND 045 is a column filter for water treatment plants that captures sludge from drinking and service water. Its head with a fully electronic WSCI unit starts regeneration either at a set time or after a set volume of water has passed. During regeneration the media is only flushed with water – no other substances are added to the treated water. The filter can be combined with dosing pumps and is certified for drinking water (RÚVZ Poprad).
Operating the WSCI unit
Five buttons: SET CLOCK for the time, NEXT and two arrows for moving through the menu, and REGEN. Holding REGEN for about 3 seconds starts regeneration immediately; a short press schedules it for the next set time, usually 2:00 am. The operating parameters are entered by the technician at start-up.
Size 045
Dimensions 365 × 365 × 1531 mm (W × D × H), inlet and outlet 1" male thread. Leave at least 200 mm of free space above the filter for handling. The filter stands on a level surface in a dry room at 5–40 °C; the treated water may be 5–35 °C at up to 6 bar. The DESAND range with the 5-button unit covers sizes 030 to 500.
Installation requirements
- connection to a sewer drain with sufficient capacity – the drain port on the control unit is 3/4" male thread
- a 230 V socket within reach of the power adapter
- shut-off valves, pressure gauges and sampling valves on both inlet and outlet
- a lockable bypass for the whole treatment plant and for the filter itself
- a mechanical filter (e.g. GEL.DEPURA) with a 20–60 µm cartridge downstream of the column filter
Regular flushing requires enough raw water – at least 3 bar pressure and a flow of 3.6 m³/h for roughly 20–30 minutes.
Commissioning: after installation the filter is first flushed thoroughly at an inlet pressure of at least 3 bar with the outlet kept closed, so that no turbid water reaches the building's pipework. Once clear water runs from the drain, an authorised technician sets up and starts the unit – otherwise the right to warranty repairs is lost. A 24-month warranty covers material defects.

Frequently asked questions
Does the filter use salt or chemicals for regeneration?
No. The media is regenerated by flushing with water only and nothing is added to the treated water.
What must be ready before the filter is installed?
A sewer drain with sufficient capacity, a 230 V socket, shut-off valves, pressure gauges, sampling valves and a bypass. A mechanical filter with a 20–60 µm cartridge is installed downstream.
Can I commission the filter myself?
The customer flushes the filter after installation at a pressure of at least 3 bar until clear water runs from the drain. Setup and start-up must be done by an authorised company, otherwise the right to warranty repairs is lost.
How much space does the DESAND 045 filter need?
The dimensions are 365 × 365 × 1531 mm (W × D × H). In addition, leave at least 200 mm above the filter and room for the pipe connections.

IVAR designs, develops and manufactures highly energy-efficient heating and plumbing systems. We have over 10,000 catalogue items - mass-produced products and unique items - in addition to customised systems and combinations of complex products. And it’s all “Made in Italy”.
Vision
To make life easier for our clients, our clients' customers and our employees, thanks to our ability to be constantly innovative.
Mission
To design and manufacture advanced hydronic solutions that reduce installation complexity and energy consumption.
“Made in Italy” adds value
IVAR has been producing heating and plumbing system components since 1985: valves for heating bodies, direct heat metering modules, heat cost allocators, pipes and fittings, substations for heating systems, distribution manifolds, radiant panel systems, and components for solar and geothermal systems. And it’s all “Made in Italy”.
Over 200 people are employed at our manufacturing facilities in Prevalle (in northern Italy’s Brescia province). The site has been designed to streamline our many production and operational stages.
The Italian headquarters also acts as a hub for the wider IVAR Group, set up with the goal of distributing products beyond Italy’s borders. The group now has 11 branches, in Australia, Belgium, China, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, the United States and Tunisia.
Know How
Research, development and numerous laboratory tests guarantee that our clients’ requests can be translated into new high-efficiency products.
The stages required for production take place internally, beginning with hot forming, which is carried out at our subsidiary Valmon Stampati. Our continuous implementation of projects under the Industry 4.0 initiative also allows us to take full advantage of new releases in technology and IT to improve our manufacturing efficiency.
As a company, IVAR is constantly evolving. Every day, we invest in strengthening our products, in improving our production processes and in attaining new patents and certifications.
