Yes, but only as long as it is not corroded or damaged. - If it is tight, wait 10–15 minutes and check again.

Never turn on the heater without water – dry operation (so-called "dry firing") will destroy the heater within seconds. The heating element is designed to transfer heat to water, not to air. 12. Is it possible to use a heater GRBT or GRBTN in a solar storage tank?
This depends on the specific tank and the medium. In solar storage tanks with potable water in a direct circuit – yes, it is possible, but check the maximum operating temperature of the heater (usually 85–95 °C) and the temperature the tank is designed for. Solar storage tanks typically operate at temperatures of 60–80 °C, which is within the normal range.
If the solar storage tank is designed for an indirect circuit with a non-freezing mixture (propylene glycol, ethylene glycol), do not use the GRBT heater with a galvanized surface – glycol mixtures are aggressive to zinc and brass surfaces, and the heater will corrode quickly. In this case, choose a stainless steel AISI 316L (GRBTN), which is significantly more resistant to glycol media.
13. Can I install a heating rod myself or do I need an electrician?
The law and standards (STN 33 2000 and related) are clear on this: consumers up to 3,680 W connected to a standard socket (230V / 16A) can be connected by anyone themselves. A heating rod with a power cord and plug is therefore legally installable by yourself – you just need to mechanically screw the rod into the radiator and plug it in.
If the heater is hardwired (fixed power supply, not a plug), or if it is over 3,680 W, an electrician with the appropriate qualification is required. For threaded heaters 5/4" and 6/4", there are two common approaches:
- Teflon sealing tape (PTFE) – a classic, reliable, cheap, and available everywhere. Wind 10–15 threads in the direction of the thread, and tighten firmly with a wrench. Suitable for most applications with potable water.
