CYCLON NW 500 is a high-flow mechanical filter that captures solid impurities from water – sand, soil, rust and other particles. Water first passes through centrifugal pre-filtration with a cyclone effect and then through a 25 µm nylon cartridge with a filter area of 1288 cm². When the flush valve is opened, the flowing water rinses the trapped sediment into the drain, so a connection to the sewer is recommended. The materials used are suitable for drinking water and the food industry; the filter is made by the Belgian company AIRWATEC (CINTROPUR filters).

Where it is used

It protects domestic pipework and sanitary installations in houses, apartment buildings, hotels, restaurants and schools. In industry it protects fittings and machine tools; in agriculture it cleans water for irrigation and livestock watering, as well as rainwater and water from wells and tanks.

Design and package

• reinforced PP head, transparent SAN bowl – the cartridge condition is always visible
• two glycerine-filled 0–20 bar gauges on inlet and outlet show cartridge clogging
• manual flushing mechanism and air vent valve

Installation and maintenance

The filter is best installed right at the water inlet – after the water meter or after the pump, in the direction of the arrow on the head, with shut-off valves and a bypass. The original unions must be used, as the metric thread of the head (M76) does not fit standard unions. It must not be installed on the suction side of a pump, and the pipework must not carry the weight of the filter. At pressures above 10 bar a pressure reducing valve is needed upstream; in systems without an expansion vessel, a surge tank of at least 2 l. Clean the cartridge when the pressure difference exceeds 2 bar, and at least 3 times a year.

Is the filter suitable for drinking water?
Yes, the filter materials are suitable for contact with drinking water and for the food industry. For drinking water systems, disinfection of the system after installation is recommended.

How often does the filter cartridge need cleaning?
When the pressure difference on the gauges exceeds 2 bar, but at least 3 times a year. The 25, 50 and 100 µm cartridges are single-use; the 150 and 300 µm cartridges can be cleaned and reused.

Can I connect the filter with standard unions?
No, the original unions from the package must be used, because the head has an M76 metric thread that is not compatible with standard unions.

Where should the filter be placed in the system?
Ideally at the water inlet after the water meter or pump, never on the suction side of a pump. Always with a bypass and shut-off valves before and after the filter.
