Good day, we are renovating an older family house. It is a complete refurbishment and I will be putting in new heating. The heating there is a combination of a gas boiler + a solid fuel boiler, and we want to keep it that way. Until now the gas boiler mainly heated the hot water for showers and baths, and the solid fuel boiler ran the heating (the water in the radiators). As we are now redoing everything from scratch, we would like to arrange it so that whenever the solid fuel boiler is fired, it also heats the hot water in the cylinder, and the gas boiler only tops it up when needed (if the solid fuel boiler could not keep up, or was not lit). My heating engineer has proposed a gas boiler, a cylinder (with two coils) and a solid fuel boiler. The gas boiler would be connected to one coil of the cylinder and the solid fuel boiler to the other. Do you think that would be all right? Could this heating work and heat the water without one or the other boiler having to be switched off? Simply so that they heat and run at the same time? What is the best way to combine this heating (gas, cylinder, solid fuel) so as to make maximum use of the times when the solid fuel central heating boiler is lit (which is very often)? It is a three-storey house, 3 floors, about 20 radiators including 4 towel radiators in 4 bathrooms. What would you recommend for heating it with a gas/solid fuel combination? Which (condensing) boiler and which solid fuel boiler do you recommend, and which cylinder would you suggest?

Hello. That kind of connection is used more for solar heating; in your case it would be better to connect the boiler to a conventional single-coil cylinder, connected in the boiler circuit upstream of the three-way or four-way valve. The control will give priority to heating the hot water and only then send water to the radiators. If the boiler goes out, it automatically starts the gas boiler, which tops up the water in the cylinder. There is a diagram here https://www.atria.sk/soubory/19648/C12_08_A4.pdf on page 5, for example. The controller can be found here https://www.atria.sk/regulacia-adex-comfort-12/. In any case, the cylinder will also be cheaper than one with two coils, and I do not think it is a good idea to heat the water with gas and with wood at the same moment. Have a nice day.

I have a Beretta 24 CIAO boiler and since the beginning about 5 engineers have worked on it, none of whom can set the hot water modulation for showering or washing up. That means the boiler keeps switching off and on all the time, and the result is water that is hot one moment and lukewarm the next. Can you recommend a good gas boiler that will be OK even at a low water flow rate?? Thank you.

Hello. We can offer you this boiler, for example: https://www.atria.sk/ariston-cares-premium-24-eu/ , which has a modulation range of 1:4, a very good figure. Another boiler with a low minimum output is this one, for example: https://www.atria.sk/junkers-cerapurcompact-zwb-24-1-de/ Have a nice day.

Or it is caused by the boiler running too cold. The return pipe is bringing water back to the boiler at below 55 degrees.

Hello, I would like some advice on choosing a condensing boiler. At the moment we have a 16-year-old Junkers boiler installed. To reduce consumption we would be interested in a condensing one. It is a 15-year-old brick family house, insulated (thickness up to 10cm), with a living area of 220m2, occupied by 2 adults who are at work from 7:00 to 19:00, which means the heating is set to 18 degrees then, and at night too. At the weekend we have the heating set to 21 degrees. So I would like to know roughly what heat output we would need to avoid cycling, and also which boiler you would recommend. My layman's calculation is: estimated heat loss 9-10kW, so a boiler output of approx. 3-12kW would be enough? Thank you in advance for your reply.

Hello, I probably put it badly: it is a two-storey house and the total area of both floors together is those 88 square metres, so in that case the 14 kw one should be enough? And how will I notice the difference between a boiler without a cylinder and a boiler with a hot water cylinder – what will the difference be? Thank you for your reply

Hello, you should definitely choose a condensing boiler; it is far more economical than the old conventional boilers. Then you have to decide for yourself whether you want a combi boiler or one with a cylinder. You can easily work out the boiler output you need yourself. For 100 m2 you need at least 10 kW of output or more. Buderus mostly comes in 14 kW or 24 kW versions, so the 24 kW will suit you. Have a nice day.

Good morning, my wife and I are choosing a new boiler for our flat and your online shop caught our attention. I do not know where to start. We would like to buy a wall-hung gas boiler through your company - a conventional one with DHW heating. The brand does not matter; you have a wide range spanning several hundred euros. Our budget is limited. And we are finding a lot of brands and models. We have had bad experiences with local tradesmen; we have some quotations, but I see a huge disproportion between the price of the boiler, the parts and the labour. Of course, if we buy, we also need delivery and installation by an authorised person + warranty service. It will then need connecting to the existing pipework. We need to stay within a certain range and I am used to keeping my word, meaning that I will not switch from your company when buying. Where do we start? Mgr. Jozef Kostka - a decent and reliable future customer of yours. P.S: We currently have an old Nectra (15 years), which sits above our present fridge, and depending on the size of the boiler we will throw the fridge out too and buy a new one. That is another matter. It is about the dimensions and the awkward layout of the flat I live in.

Hello, we would be able to advise you on choosing a boiler. For that I would need to know what living area is involved and whether you are interested in a combi boiler or one with a cylinder. Delivering the boiler would not be a problem; the only problem I see is with installation and servicing. We do not provide those, as we are an online retailer. The Junkers boiler brand, which we would also recommend to you, has a wide service network, and using the link I am attaching you can find a service engineer in your town - http://www.junkers.sk/junkers-dokumentacia-servis/junkers-servis-kotla.html. Enjoy the rest of your day.

Hello, definitely a wall-hung condensing boiler. It is far more economical than a conventional boiler. When choosing a specific manufacturer, you should consider above all whether it has a wide service network and official manufacturer representation in Slovakia. From that point of view I recommend Junkers, Vaillant and Immergas boilers. Enjoy the rest of your day.

Hello. You write that you are a family of 6. In my opinion you should have a cylinder of at least 120L, and going by the area a boiler output of 28kW should be enough. To save on running costs, I suggest the JUNKERS Cerapurcomfort 28kW condensing boiler with a 120L cylinder. We can offer it at a price of: 1.752,00EUR incl. VAT. Kind regards, ATRIA

Hello, I want to replace the boiler in my flat and would like to ask for your advice. I have a 3-room flat with the usual area of 65m2; at the moment I have a roughly 15-year-old lamborghini 24kW boiler, the turbo version, which is on its last legs. I use the boiler for heating and for hot water. I do not know whether to go for an ordinary or a condensing boiler when replacing it, and I also do not know whether a boiler with a small DHW cylinder or a combi boiler is better. Size-wise, only a boiler with a small cylinder, about 25 litres at most, will fit in my bathroom; the other boilers are wider and would not go in. Is it worth investing in a condensing boiler, or is the saving not that significant in such a small flat, and would you rather recommend an ordinary, i.e. non-condensing, boiler?? Is it better to have a boiler with a hot water cylinder, and what are its advantages or disadvantages – is it also more economical, or is instantaneous DHW heating alone enough for the needs of a family of 4?? Are there now combi boilers that do not need a certain "minimum water flow rate" when heating?? Please advise me and also recommend some boilers from your range; it need not be the cheapest, rather reliable, economical and with good control options. Thank you in advance for your advice,

Hello, I have already written twice today but probably to the wrong addresses, so forgive me for spamming you :) My question was whether you can recommend a boiler for my parents' house. It is an old classic square house (100m2), single-storey, uninsulated, with old windows and cast-iron radiators; the old boiler is located in the porch and is a turbo one. We also heat our hot water with it, we live near Bratislava, and we want to save as much energy as possible, since prices keep rising. Thank you for your time

Hello, as a general rule you need roughly 10 kW or more of heat output per 100 square metres. On the other hand, a gas condensing boiler with an output of 22 kW would be more suitable for an uninsulated house. If you heat your hot water in an external cylinder, you need to buy the version prepared for that cylinder. https://www.atria.sk/kondenzacne-kotly/moznost-pripojenia-zasobnika/ You should definitely go for a boiler that has official representation in Slovakia, for example Junkers, Protherm, Vaillant or Buderus.

Hello, we would be interested in buying a package of a condensing boiler with a hot water cylinder. We need the package for a two-storey family house with a footprint of 10m x 9m - the house has 2 bathrooms, a smaller one on the ground floor (with a shower enclosure) and a larger one upstairs (with a bath). We also plan to use the hot water for the intended underfloor heating, which will be in the living room and kitchen on the ground floor. I would like to ask whether a 60L, 75L or 120-litre cylinder will be enough for us. Our concern is not the price difference but the space. We have only a limited space set aside in the house for the package. Thank you in advance for your advice,

Hello, a hot water cylinder is basically not sized according to the size of the house. If you are a family of several people, at least 3 - 4, it is certainly best to take a 120-litre cylinder. But if there is no room.... Then there is also the option of a boiler with a built-in 45-litre cylinder, which works as an instantaneous water heater once the water in the cylinder has been used up. Yes, I understand now. The protherm has a 60/100 flue outlet, or 80/125 for drawing air in from outside. So measure it and you will see whether it fits. I cannot say reliably right now what flue the old boiler had. If you look at this document, https://www.atria.sk/soubory/113/nvod_na_intalciu_tiger_condens.pdf you will see exactly how to install the boiler.

Hello, it actually ended back in 2011. What we had in stock has sold out, and at the moment purchasing is at normal prices. There will be an offer, but not until the spring.

Thank you. As there is no rush yet, because I need the boiler for a new build, I will keep watching your site and order it together with the flue kit. By the way, it is a bungalow with an area of 120m2 and underfloor heating only. One bathroom, with a bath. I hope it will keep up with reheating, because I have limited space and the hot water cylinder has to be wall-hung too.

Hello, well, for a 120 m2 bungalow I would probably choose a slightly higher output, mainly because of the instantaneous hot water heating.

Hello. I wanted to ask what formula can be used to calculate how big a radiator I need for each room. Is there a formula for it, or what could I base the calculation on, and then possibly order from you?

Hello, radiators always have their output given in watts, and you should allow for roughly a 1000-watt radiator per 10 square metres, so for a 2 x 4 room I would fit a radiator of somewhat more than 800w. Do not forget that this is a rough calculation, so go a little larger to be safe. It is better to turn a larger radiator down than to have a smaller one that will not heat the room.

Hello. I would like to ask about the Immergas Victrix X 24 kW and Attack Small Plus 19 kW condensing boilers: can you tell me their electricity consumption and gas consumption, and whether you can give some further discount on the total when I buy the underfloor heating materials and the boiler? Thank you in advance for your reply.

Hello, you can read the energy consumption and gas consumption in the files attached directly in the boiler's product detail in the online shop. I have sent you the answer to your second question by e-mail

Good day. I would like to ask: in my family house I have a Protherm Raja 12k electric boiler connected to underfloor heating, and we would like to control it with one or more wireless room thermostats. Is that possible? I assume it is. Could you recommend a suitable model or models? Thanks for the info.

Hello, that option does exist. With one wireless thermostat it is simple. You buy, for example, one of these https://www.atria.sk/izbove-termostaty-a-regulacie/bezdrotove-termostaty/. If you want to use several thermostats, that option exists too, and we plan to add this solution to the online shop. You can connect up to eight thermostats to a bus, which will then switch the boiler on. But that will probably not be for another three weeks or so.

Hello, I would like to ask you for some information. I own a Ferroli Domitop F24E wall-hung gas boiler and I need a heat exchanger for heating hot water. Can you tell me whether it can still be obtained and how much it costs? Thank you, Ján, Rimavská Sobota

Hello, we do not service Ferrili boilers. Only the service engineer who commissioned your boiler can sort this out for you (that is, if it is still under warranty); if it is not, you need to contact http://www.vit.sk/servis/index.php
