| 1. | UHP55 system insulation board (polystyrene), dimensions 1,05m x 0,75m x thickness 5,8cm |
2. | Polybutylene pipe UHP16 or PEXALPEX 16x2mm with an oxygen barrier | |
| 3. | Self-adhesive perimeter expansion strip DP50 around the walls | 4. | Heating screed of fine-grained concrete. | |
| 5. | Floor or load-bearing structure |
Procedure for installing underfloor heating on a solid base:
| 1. | Fix the cabinet into the prepared opening in the wall. |
| 2. | Place the manifold in the cabinet and fix it to the guide rails inside. The manifold bar with the flow meters is for the hot water flow and goes at the top. The second bar, with valves only, goes at the bottom. |
| 3. | On a clean, firm and level base 5, lay the UHP55 system insulation board (polystyrene) over the entire area. |
| 4. | Stick the self-adhesive expansion strip DP50 around the walls so that the plastic "skirt" lies on the UHP55 board |
| 5. | Thread the start of the pipe under the guide rail in the cabinet, fix the bend with the pipe bend guide 5058 and start laying the pipe to the required circuit length. Lay the pipe in a spiral ("snail") pattern as shown in the picture. ( if you have planned a spacing of 15cm, lay it at 30cm and come back down the middle on the return run, which gives you a 15cm spacing) |
| 6. | Once all the circuits have been laid, connect the UHP16 or PEXALPEX16 pipe to the manifold using RCS16 compression fittings. Connect the hot water flow where the flow meters are and the return water below it, always so that the flow and return of each circuit sit one above the other on the manifold. To keep track more easily, label each circuit with a number and the name of the room. |
| 7. | Once the underfloor heating has been screeded over, the floor finish laid and the plastering and painting completed, fit the frame with its door and rest the sliding plate at the bottom of the cabinet on the finished floor. All openings will then be covered. |

Hello, could you please advise me on what thickness of system insulation board plus what depth of screed to use? A 1cm floating floor will go on top of the screed and the overall height I need to make up is approx. 13-14cm. Thank you for your reply.
-
Hello. Use UHP 55: https://www.atria.sk/systemova-izolacna-doska-uhp55/ and make up the rest with concrete. I would definitely recommend the highest board. Have a nice day.
-
Hello, the perimeter expansion joint is clear to me, but can you advise me how, or with what kind of strip, to make an intermediate expansion joint to separate the circuits? I cannot see an intermediate expansion strip here, I mean one with a skirt on both sides to stop the screed running underneath.
-
Hello. It is true that we do not stock an intermediate strip. Many people solve it by joining (sticking) two strips together, so that they have foil on each side. The expansion strip for underfloor heating is only sold in 50 metre rolls, for example, so nobody really minds using some of it to divide a room down the middle. In any case, we could order an intermediate strip too, but delivery would take 1-2 weeks. Have a nice day.

Please correct the dimension of the floor finish layer, because 10 cm is a bit much - I have never seen floor tiles or flooring that thick.
-
Hello, I have a question about the floor height with your underfloor heating. When building, we left a clear height of 213cm for the door openings on the ground floor. Could you recommend a suitable underfloor heating build-up from your range that we could fit in, assuming the door opening is to be 202cm above the laminate floor? Put simply, can we fit within 10cm including screed and insulation? Will that be enough? Or would it be better to alter the doors and frames?
-
Hello, we recommend having a look at the following pages: https://www.atria.sk/vykurovacia-technika/polystyren-podlahove-kurenie/navod-pre-podlahove-kurenie/ and also https://www.atria.sk/clanky/navod-pre-podlahove-kurenie-vykurovanie-s-polystyrenom-uhp55/, they should help you.

it depends on the location and on how well the foundation slab is insulated, but with 10 cm you get at most 4cm of XPS insulation in the floor and 5 to 6 cm of screed, depending on how level the slab is, and it also depends on the thickness of the damp-proofing ....
-
I would like to ask whether there is a limit on the number of metres per circuit.. thank you
-
yes, 120m max, ideally up to 80m to 100m

Please could you tell me: on an area of 70m2 I have 6 heating circuits of wet underfloor heating. Does this area need expansion joints?
-
Hello, expansion joints are used with every underfloor heating installation. For 70 metres, if it is one continuous area, it would be a good idea to divide it with expansion strip, even into three sections. Have a nice day-
-
if it is a hall, definitely; if it is rooms, then put an expansion joint under the doors. at least at the transitions from one room to the next....

Hello, I would like to ask how system insulation boards are laid. It is quite clear to me in a regular-shaped space. But how do you lay them in a bathroom, for example? Are they trimmed somehow, or are they laid under the bath as well? A similar problem is, for instance, a fireplace in the living room or the kitchen units. The point is that if the boards are trimmed, they will shift and the grooves for the pipe will no longer line up. Could you please advise me? Thank you very much in advance.

Good evening, I am thinking about underfloor heating in a block of flats, but only in the living room, and I wanted to ask whether it could be done with an ordinary gas boiler and a max. screed depth, including the base layer, of 6cm over an area of 25m2, without a manifold - just connected from the radiator return into the underfloor heating and back to the boiler. Would that be possible? The thing is that there is a passageway beneath us and cold comes up from it, and in general it is hard to heat the area. Thank you, kind regards, Dusan
-
Hello, the choice of boiler has no fundamental effect on underfloor heating, as long as it is properly set up. However, I have never seen underfloor heating connected like this, perhaps in a bathroom at most, but certainly not 25 square metres. A manifold is always used, but if you really want to do it this way, it should work; you would then just need to limit the flow temperature to around 50 degrees. Have a nice day.

Hello, I have a company that is going to install IVAR underfloor heating for me on polystyrene, that is, without using a system board. What is the system board for, and can underfloor heating be laid on plain polystyrene as well?
-
Hello, that must not be done; a system insulation board always has to be used, and pipe cannot be laid on ordinary polystyrene. Here is the IVAR board https://www.atria.sk/doska-ivar-th-30-p-th30p/ and here are the other, better-selling ones https://www.atria.sk/polystyrenove-systemove-dosky/. Have a nice day

I have a question about the concrete screed (point no. 4): the picture says it should be coarse-grained concrete and the guide underneath says fine-grained concrete, so which is it, please?
-
Hello, we apologise, there was a mistake in the graphic.

Hello, I am renovating a house where part of the system will be underfloor heating and part radiators, with a Buderus Logani G124 24kW atmospheric floor-standing boiler and 2 storeys (underfloor heating and radiators on both). I would like to ask which combination of manifolds would be best to use. What is the difference between the Ivar CI 557 KS, KT and the IVAR UNIMIX? Thank you
-
Hello, for a combination of underfloor heating and radiators you need a manifold with a pump, which separates off the hot heating water from the radiator circuit and brings it down to around 50 degrees. UNIMIX, on the other hand, is an expensive and sometimes unnecessary solution. So it would be a good idea to use the manifold you asked about. There is no design difference between the KS and the KT, only different flow meters.

Hello, please could you prepare a quotation for materials for underfloor heating, water and drainage. The list of materials is attached. I would also like to know whether the Sinclair and Ariston heat pumps can also be used as a heat source for underfloor heating? And to what temperature do they heat domestic hot water (DHW)? Thank you. Have a nice day. Ondakova
-
Hello, we do not prepare quotations. All the materials can be found in the online shop. The most I can do is help with the following links. We do not even stock a heat pump with heating support, as the price of such a solution is very high; all of ours are heat pumps for heating water, which they heat to as much as 60 degrees. 1. https://www.atria.sk/polystyrenove-systemove-dosky/ 2. https://www.atria.sk/clanky/podlahove-kurenie-a-vykurovanie/ 3. https://www.atria.sk/clanky/porovnanie-systemovych-dosiek/ 4. https://www.atria.sk/polystyrenove-systemove-dosky/navod-pre-podlahove-kurenie/

150m2 of system insulation board with a strength of 150kPa , 16mm pipe , what would the board cost including delivery to Banská Štiavnica ?
-
Delivery of polystyrene for underfloor heating would cost 13; we deliver towards Banská Bystrica every week on Wednesday.
-
are there any special valves for connecting underfloor heating to a radiator circuit to limit the maximum temperature? Thank you
-
For underfloor heating combined with a radiator, this valve is used https://www.atria.sk/rtl-ventil-ivar-ek-590001/
-
how much is an 11-circuit manifold for underfloor heating with a pump and mixing valve? I have underfloor heating downstairs and radiators upstairs
-
Here are all the manifolds with a pump for underfloor heating https://www.atria.sk/mosadzne-rozdelovace/rozdelovace-podlahove-kurenie/ivar-rozdelovace-s-cerpadlom/ivar-ci-557-ks-s-cerpadlom/

from the drawing I cannot tell how the perimeter expansion strip is joined to the system board, which has studs on it.. and the strip cannot be stuck on.. should the studs nearest the expansion strip be cut off?
-
The expansion strip is stuck to the plaster; it has a kind of double-sided adhesive tape on the back. And the blue foil is folded over the polystyrene for underfloor heating so that the concrete does not run underneath. So it is not stuck to the system board in any way.
