How to install underfloor heating with UHP53 polystyrene boards

For  m2 you need pcs of board UHP55, m of pipe, - port manifold, pcs of EK adaptor + a manifold cabinet.

You will find the boards in the system insulation boards and polystyrene category, and the complete system in the underfloor heating category.

The calculations are indicative only. If you would like a specific design, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Installing underfloor heating with the UHP53 system insulation board

Polystyrene for underfloor heating, 36 mm high, with pipe spacing in multiples of 5 cm and a heat-reflective layer.

1. UHP53 system insulation board (polystyrene), 1,0m x 0,7m x 3,6cm thick

Pipe laying spacing in multiples of 5cm

2. UHP16 polybutylene pipe or PEXALPEX 16x2mm with an oxygen barrier
3. DP50 self-adhesive perimeter expansion strip around the walls 4. Heated screed of fine-grained concrete.
5. Floor or load-bearing structure

Step-by-step procedure for installing underfloor heating on a solid subfloor:

1. Fix the cabinet into the opening prepared  in the wall.
2. Place the manifold in the cabinet and fix it to the guide rails inside. The manifold bar with the flow meters is for the hot water flow and goes at the top. The second bar, with valves only, goes at the bottom.
3. On a clean, solid and level subfloor 5, lay the UHP53 system insulation board (polystyrene) over the whole area.
4. Around the walls, stick the DP50 self-adhesive expansion strip so that the plastic “skirt” lies on the UHP53 board
5. Feed the start of the pipe under the guide rail in the cabinet, secure the bend with a 5058 pipe bend support and start laying the pipe to the required circuit length. Lay the pipe in a “snail” (spiral) pattern as shown in the picture.  (if you have planned a 15cm spacing, lay it at 30cm and come back down the middle on the return run, which gives you a 15cm laying spacing)
6. Once all the circuits have been laid, use RCS16 compression fittings to connect the UHP16 or PEXALPEX16 pipe to the manifold. Connect the hot water flow where the flow meters are and the return below it, always so that the flow and return of each circuit sit one above the other on the manifold. To keep track more easily, label each circuit with a number and the name of the room.
7. Once the underfloor heating has been screeded over, the floor covering laid and the plastering and painting finished, fit the frame with its door and rest the sliding plate at the bottom of the cabinet on the finished floor. All the openings will then be covered.

Hello. The only place I still have no underfloor heating is the bathroom, where so far there is just the concrete base slab. I also want to build a WC enclosure in the bathroom. My question: is it better to build the WC wall now, or only after the screed has been poured over the PEXALPEX pipe, given the load that wall would put on the underfloor heating pipes? Thank you

Hello. In this case I would leave it up to you. More often, though, it is done before the wall is built. And do not forget that you need to use a perimeter expansion strip, so that the concrete has room to expand. Have a nice day
