The ADEX TTUV electric thermostat keeps your hot water cylinder charging properly

Access to domestic hot water is now regarded as a normal standard. Having hot water available at any time is no longer a privilege of the few. However, as the cost of housing and the energy that goes with it keeps rising, it makes sense to look for the most efficient system possible when providing domestic hot water. A well-chosen appliance not only saves a considerable amount of money but also helps to extend the service life of the equipment that provides the comfort you expect.

Service water and its forms

Service water is usually produced by heating drinking water. Hot water is harmless to health, but it is not intended for drinking or cooking. Domestic hot water is therefore not subject to any standards or inspections. It can, however, also be produced by treating waste water from bathrooms, washing machines or dishwashers, which turns it into service water. This is how so-called grey water becomes white water.

Service water can also be industrial water used in industrial plants, and process water that is part of the manufacturing process of a given product. Last but not least, water for irrigation also falls into this category.

As we assume that most of you will be dealing with domestic hot water, the rest of this article looks at heating it in the home.

Versatility with a wide range of uses

The ADEX TTUV thermostat was developed for charging a hot water cylinder, with the aim of reducing how often the heat source – usually a gas boiler – switches on and off. This is done by setting the difference between the switch-on and switch-off temperature at around 30°C. Thanks to its versatility, however, the thermostat is also suitable for many other applications.

The ADEX TTUV electronic thermostat keeps the temperature within a chosen range, controlling the heat source by means of a changeover relay contact. By choosing the size of the gap between the switch-off and switch-on temperature, you determine how often the heat source switches. Thanks to the changeover relay contact, it can also be used for cooling or ventilation. When the set temperature is reached at the connected sensor, the ADEX TTUV thermostat switches the output relay off. When the temperature falls by the set differential, it switches it back on again.

The ADEX TTUV electric thermostat and its components

The ADEX TTUV controller has a simple yet practical design. The rotary controls are on the front, while the power supply and the temperature sensor are at the back. The sensor comes with a 180 cm lead. The electric thermostat consists of the TTUV1 control module, the TTUV2 switching module and a temperature sensor.

The TTUV1 control module is used to set the thermostat's switch-off temperature and the differential, that is, the difference between the thermostat's switch-off and switch-on temperature. Two separate adjusters are provided for setting these parameters. The TTUV2 switching module, in turn, supplies power to the ADEX TTUV thermostat and contains the output relay with a changeover contact. The switching module is built into a plastic housing with a mains plug.

Specifications you will appreciate

When you choose the ADEX TTUV thermostat, you can rely on the controller's convenient technical specifications. The switch-off temperature can be set in the range 40 to 90 °C and the differential from 5 to 40 °C. The power input of the electronics themselves is no more than 1 volt-ampere. The manufacturer has also thought of safety and given the thermostat an IP40 protection rating.

The ADEX TTUV electric thermostat stands out for its minimalism in design and in everyday use. Its uncomplicated nature makes it practical while saving energy. It is one of the many products from market-proven manufacturers whose products you will find in our online shop.
