Solar thermal systems are becoming an increasingly popular alternative for heating domestic hot water and supporting the heating. Thanks to free solar energy, the investment in a solar system pays for itself within a few years through significant savings on fossil fuels. To enjoy the benefits of a solar system to the full, however, you need to pay attention to the right choice and quality of the individual components. Alongside the solar collector and the twin solar pipe, one of the important components is the solar system control unit, known as the solar controller.

What the Euroster Solar 813 solar controller does
The Euroster Solar 813 solar system controller is used for domestic hot water heating in homes. It monitors the temperature of the solar collector and of up to two cylinders, selected to suit the operating mode. The solar controller can also control an additional heat source or an electric heater, which provide heating alongside the energy gained from the solar collector.
You can programme the time periods in which the additional heating switches on. The Euroster Solar 813 solar controller can work in one of four modes, depending on the sensors connected. To prevent the operating mode being set incorrectly, all sensors are identified only after the power supply is switched on. The system diagram for each operating mode is shown on the display at all times.

Installing and positioning the solar system controller
The Euroster Solar 813 solar controller stands out for its simple design and ease of use. On the front there is a display with two LEDs, “On/Off” and “+/-” buttons, as well as OK and reset buttons. The display has a blue backlight and switches on automatically when a button is pressed. The wiring diagram is shown on the side, and the back has a mounting system.

The controller should be mounted on a wall, taking care that the temperature at that location does not exceed 40 °C. The Euroster Solar 813 solar system controller is designed for mounting on a DIN 35 rail. We do, however, recommend installing it in a protective enclosure. The wires should be connected to the terminal blocks in accordance with the drawing and description. The correct marking of the wires must also be observed.

Important protective functions of the Euroster Solar 813 controller
The Euroster Solar 813 solar controller has several protective functions. One of them is protection against the pump rotor seizing. The power output for the collector circuit pump is switched on every day at midnight for 5 seconds if the temperature falls below 15 °C. An equally important function is protection against overheating of the collector and the cylinder. There is also frost protection, although this is switched off at the factory. Once it is switched on, the collector circuit pump will be run for one minute every hour if the collector temperature falls to 5° C. If it falls to 2 °C, the pump is switched off permanently. The device also has a function that prevents an operating mode being switched on if it does not match the connections made.
The Euroster Solar 813 solar system controller also has a built-in backup battery. It keeps the settings and powers the clock if the power supply to the device is interrupted. To prevent any change to the settings, you can use the key lock option.
By choosing the Euroster Solar 813 solar controller you gain a practical assistant that makes controlling your solar system trouble-free. The package also includes a wall-mounted enclosure, three temperature sensors and fixings.
