Advanced technology has brought the trend for internet control to the world of thermostats too. A controller operated over the internet from a smartphone or computer lets you keep your heating and hot water under control even when you are nowhere near it. All you need to do is connect to your home WiFi router, and you will always have an energy-saving, safe heating system at your fingertips.
The modern Flink FTWifi wireless thermostat with receiver
The minimalist design of the Flink FTWifi thermostat ensures it fits in with any type of interior and also hints at how easy it is to use. The front of the thermostat is dominated by a clear LCD display, beneath which sits a prominent rotary knob for lowering or raising the value of the parameter being set. The side button switches the thermostat on and off, but also works as a back step or to activate the backlight. On the back there are holes for wall mounting.
To start up the Flink FTWifi, you need to release the rear cover with a thin screwdriver and insert two AA alkaline batteries. The thermostat starts up automatically as soon as they are inserted.
The receiver is equally simple in design, with an On/Off switch and three LED indicators on the front: green signals that the receiver is switched on, red that heating is active, and a flashing orange indicator means that the connection with the receiver has been lost. Releasing the rear cover reveals the terminals for connecting the electrical wiring.

Communication via the app
You will be able to control the Flink FTWifi wireless internet thermostat using the free "Flink Home" app. Once you have registered and logged in to the app, the WiFi connection lets you connect to the thermostat using the "Smart Config" function.
Holding down the rotary knob for three to five seconds opens the settings screen on the thermostat. There you need to select the "Time" item, set the current time and click on "SC" (the so-called Smart Config mode). Holding the knob down again activates smart pairing. Switch on location services on your mobile device. In the Flink Home app, select "Add Device" and then click on "Smart Config". After pressing the "Start" button, you will be asked to enter the password for your home WiFi network. After a moment the app should recognise the device and then display the Flink FTWifi thermostat in the app. Pairing is then complete.
Before pairing with the app, however, the receiver must also be wired in and switched on.

Functions of the Flink Home app
Once the app has been paired with the Flink FTWifi thermostat, you can rename it in the app or even delete it altogether. You can also use the app to control the child lock. When it is switched on, manual operation of the thermostat is disabled and you can be sure that it is fully under your control, exclusively via the app. The app also shows whether the thermostat is active and tells you whether your software is up to date.
Through the Flink Home app you can also carry out calibration of the temperature sensor, which can be adjusted within a range of -5 to +5 degrees Celsius. Another equally important function is frost protection.
So that the Flink FTWifi thermostat does not keep switching the connected heating on and off, you need to set what is known as the temperature hysteresis. This is the amount by which the temperature must fall below the set level before the thermostat switches on again. So for the heating to switch on, the temperature must be lower than the set heating temperature.
As well as setting the day and night temperatures, you can use the Flink Home app to set an adaptive automatic programme. This allows the heating to be switched on a few minutes before the time scheduled in the 7-day programme, so that the required temperature is reached at the planned time. You can set the weekly programme separately for each day of the week, or programme it for the whole week in one go.

The room controller Flink FTWifi is a modern take on the wireless thermostat, making use of a smartphone and an internet connection. It is designed for controlling heating systems, with a temperature setting range from 5 to 35 degrees Celsius. Programme your heating a week ahead using the mobile app and control the warmth in your home from your smartphone.
