Vaillant – Connection of the outdoor unit Screwing (screw connection), also suitable for the indoor unit
Original connecting kit from Vaillant for connecting the outdoor unit of the heat pump aroTHERM plus to the heating water distribution system, offered as an alternative to the pressfit version – with a screwing (compression) termination on the side of the distribution pipe. Like the pressfit version, it consists of a pair of flexible stainless steel corrugated hoses with thermal insulation, differing only in the type of end fitting, which does not require a professional press tool.
Construction and design
The kit includes 2× stainless steel corrugated flexible tubes (typically approx. 425 mm), one side with a flat gasket and a slip-on nut G 1 1/4" for connecting to the unit, the other side with a screwing (compression) connection allowing mechanical connection to the pipe without pressing – suitable, for example, for renovations, additional route modifications or where a system-specific press tool compatible with the given diameter is not available on site. The set also includes a thermal insulation of both ends of the connection.
Difference from the pressfit version
The screwing (compression) connection is detachable – it can be opened again after several years, for example during service interventions, replacement of a pipe section or route modification, without the need for cutting and re-pressing. The disadvantage is the need for periodic tightening checks (especially in the first few months after commissioning, when slight thermal expansion of the materials occurs) and a theoretically higher risk of leakage due to improper tightening compared to a permanent pressed connection. The choice between the two variants (Pressfitting vs. Screwing) depends on the installation company's habits and the specific conditions on site.
Application
The kit is used as a connecting link between the outlet from the outdoor unit (or from its connecting kit for floor or wall installation) and the distribution leading to the indoor unit/hydraulic module uniTOWER. The flexibility of the corrugated tube compensates for minor misalignments during pipe alignment and dampens the transmission of vibrations from the compressor of the outdoor unit into the fixed pipe system of the building.

Installation notes
During installation, it is necessary to follow the specified tightening torque of the connection according to the manufacturer's installation instructions – insufficient tightening will cause leakage, excessive tightening may damage the gasket or thread. After installation, it is recommended to perform a pressure test and a visual check of tightness before insulating and permanently covering the route. Installation must be carried out only by a person authorized for the installation of heat pumps and continuous heating systems.
Common questions
Is this kit interchangeable with the pressfit version? Yes, both have the same connection on the side of the unit, they differ only in the termination towards the distribution – the choice depends on the preferred installation technology.
Can the connection be disassembled after several years? Yes, unlike the pressed connection, the screw connection is detachable, which you will appreciate during service or route modification.
Is it necessary to purchase gaskets separately? No, the kit is complete including gaskets and insulation, ready for direct installation.
Operational and service recommendations
For the screwing (compression) type of connection, we recommend checking the tightening not only during commissioning, but also repeating it after the first weeks of operation, when the gasket settles after the first temperature cycles. Thereafter, it is sufficient to check during the regular annual service inspection together with a visual inspection of the connection insulation.
Related accessories
The kit is suitable to be combined with a complete set for floor or wall installation (0010027971 / 0010027974), or with an extension part (0010027972) for longer routes. If the installation company has professional pressing tools, consider also the pressfit version of this kit, which after pressing does not require periodic tightening checks.

The product is covered by a warranty period of 24 months. Installation must be carried out exclusively by a professionally qualified person authorized for heat pump installation; an improperly tightened screw connection is among the most common causes of reported leaks during DIY installation, therefore we strongly recommend entrusting the installation to a certified service company.

How to choose the correct connecting kit
Vaillant offers several mutually interchangeable parts for connecting the outdoor unit aroTHERM plus to the heating water distribution system, from which the installation company will assemble a complete route according to the specific site conditions:
- Type of transition – from below through the foundation/ground (floor installation kit) or from the side through the wall of the house (wall installation kit) – the choice depends on the position of the unit relative to the house and the routing of the distribution in the project.
- Type of end connection to the distribution – pressfit (permanent and maintenance-free after pressing) or screwing/compression (detachable, does not require professional pressing tools).
- Need for route extension – when the distance between the unit and the transition point is greater (e.g., when combined with an elevated base or with larger units with the uniTOWER module), the basic kit is supplemented with an extension part.
All parts are designed to form a continuous, thermally insulated and mechanically protected route that meets the requirements of current legislation for limiting thermal losses through the building envelope. We recommend leaving the exact selection and combination of individual parts to the installation company based on the specifics of the site.
Installation procedure step by step
- Check the coaxiality and cleanliness of the sealing surfaces before connecting the hoses to the unit and to the distribution.
- Screw and tighten the slip-on nut with the flat gasket to the connecting neck of the unit.
- Connect the screwing (compression) end of the tube to the distribution pipe and tighten to the specified torque.
- Install the supplied thermal insulation on both ends of the connection.
- Perform a pressure test of the circuit and a visual check of the connection tightness.
- After several weeks of operation, repeat the tightening check of the connection, then complete the insulation and covering of the route.
