Thermia BW ATLAS 12 DUO is a premium inverter brine-to-water heat pump in the DUO version: the unit is lower and domestic hot water is produced in a separate free-standing stainless steel MBH TWS cylinder, which is not included in the delivery. The output adapts steplessly to demand within 3–12 kW and the flow temperature reaches up to 65 °C. The ATLAS range is intended for new builds and renovations with a heat loss of up to 30 kW.

Efficiency and noise

SCOP 5.86 at 35 °C and 4.39 at 55 °C (EN 14825, cold climate), COP 4.75 at B0/W35, energy class A+++. The sound power level of the DUO version is 31–45 dB(A).

Dimensions and connection

Width 598 mm, depth approx. 710 mm, height 1450 mm, weight 127 kg. Antifreeze 28 mm (from the left, right or top), heating system 28 mm and a separate 28 mm connection for heating water to the DHW cylinder. Power supply 400 V 3N~, circuit breaker 10–25 A depending on the backup heater setting. Passive cooling is possible via the mixed circuit even without an expansion card; full cooling control and pool heating with the EM3 card.

Installation: The heat pump is designed with the HPC software; installation and electrical connection must be carried out by a specialist company.

Which hot water cylinder goes with the ATLAS 12 DUO?
The DUO version is designed for a separate free-standing stainless steel MBH TWS cylinder, which is not included in the delivery. Heating water is fed to the cylinder via a separate 28 mm connection and switched by the built-in 3-way valve.

Are the connection fittings included in the delivery?
No, the IVAR.TER-PS connection fittings for ATLAS DUO are ordered separately, as is the hot water cylinder.

Can ATLAS be used with a well instead of a borehole?
For a water-to-water source (groundwater or surface water) the WW version is intended, which already contains a built-in heat exchanger, a flow sensor and the EM3 card. This code is the BW version for a ground collector or borehole with antifreeze.

Which antifreeze is used in the primary circuit?
A mixture of water and ethanol with anti-corrosion additives and a freezing point of −17 °C (±2 °C). The heat pump itself contains approx. 2 l of fluid and the venting and expansion vessel approx. 3 l; the rest depends on the length of the collector.
