Application

SMARTY 2X PE (code IVU200PE) is a central heat recovery ventilation unit for flats, family houses and passive houses. It removes stale air and excess humidity and replaces them with fresh outdoor air that is pre-warmed in the exchanger by the outgoing air – the house is ventilated without opening windows and with low heat losses.

The unit is mounted under the ceiling and, with a height of only 250 mm, offers many placement options. The SMARTY 2X PE version has an enthalpy exchanger that transfers part of the moisture to the supply air in addition to heat; the version with a standard exchanger has code IVU200P.

Design and equipment

• counterflow enthalpy exchanger with a thermal efficiency of 75.7 % (as per Regulation (EU) 1254/2014), energy class A for the average climate
• EC fans with variable speed control – power input at maximum flow 103 W, reference specific power input SPI 0.33 W/(m³/h), sound power level 49 dB(A)
• summer bypass with actuator for 100 % bypass of the exchanger and night cooling
• Coarse 65 % (G4) filters on supply and extract, size 185 × 168 × 25 mm; an ePM1 70 % (F7) filter can be used for the outdoor air
• galvanised steel casing with white powder coating RAL 9016 (corrosion resistance C3), thermal and acoustic insulation made of 20 mm EPP, airtightness class A1

Control and accessories

The integrated miniMCB control board measures the outdoor, supply and extract air temperatures and controls the fans, the bypass and external components (pre-heater, post-heater, air regulators). It offers three manual modes, boost ventilation, a time schedule, night cooling, a fireplace mode and intelligent frost protection; a CO2 sensor (IVAR.CO2) or humidity sensor can be connected.

A controller is not included – order the wall controller (IVAR.TCP, IVAR.ST-SA, IVAR.SA-WIFI, IVAR.STOUCH) or the IVAR.MB-GATEWAY interface for operation from a PC and via the IVAR.SMARTYAIR app on a smartphone or tablet. For pre-heating the outdoor air, the IVAR.EKA electric pre-heater (1.2 kW) is available; for heating the supply air, the independent IVAR.EKA NI post-heater (1.2 kW) with the GRGT034 control.

Installation

The unit dimensions (length × width × height) are 1010 × 590 × 250 mm, weight 40 kg. It is supplied from a single-phase 230 V / 50 Hz mains, total power input/current 0.16 kW / 1.05 A. The unit operates indoors at an ambient temperature of 5 to 40 °C and ambient humidity up to 70 %; without frost protection it handles outdoor air from -8 °C. Frost protection works with unbalanced air flows and may create negative pressure in the house – with appliances that draw air from the room (fireplace, boiler), the manufacturer recommends switching it off and using a pre-heater. Without additional sound insulation it is not installed in living rooms, and it is not intended for swimming pools or saunas. Installation, electrical connection and maintenance are reserved for a qualified technician, and the unit must be earthed.

Frequently asked questions

What is supplied with the unit and what has to be ordered separately?
The unit comes with mounting accessories – four anti-vibration pads, cover plugs, a key and a G3/8 outlet pipe. The controller (IVAR.TCP, IVAR.ST-SA, IVAR.SA-WIFI, IVAR.STOUCH or the IVAR.MB-GATEWAY interface) and the air ducts are ordered separately.

Where must the unit not be installed?
In living rooms only with additional sound insulation, and never in swimming pools, saunas or similar rooms. The unit is intended for indoor spaces with an ambient temperature of 5 to 40 °C and humidity up to 70 %.

How often should the filters be replaced?
The manufacturer recommends replacement every 3 to 4 months, or sooner when indicated on the controller. Coarse 65 % (G4) filters sized 185 × 168 × 25 mm are used, and ePM1 70 % (F7) is also available for the outdoor air; the unit must never run without filters.

Does the unit need a pre-heater for the outdoor air?
Without frost protection, the SMARTY 2X PE operates with outdoor air from -8 °C. For colder periods it is supplemented with the IVAR.EKA electric pre-heater (1.2 kW); the 2X P model is also available with an integrated 1 kW pre-heater (IVU200PPH, IVU200PEPH).
