The GeniaAir Classic HA 11-7.1 + hydraulic module + Mipro Sense set is a complete set of a monoblock air-source heat pump Protherm GeniaAir Classic HA 11-7.1. It is a monoblock version with natural refrigerant R290 (propane) – the entire refrigerant circuit is hermetically sealed from the factory directly in the outdoor unit, and only heating (or hot domestic) water is led into the house.

What is included in the set

This set includes the monoblock outdoor unit GeniaAir Classic HA 11-7.1, supplemented by a separate hydraulic module (circulation pump, expansion tank, safety valve, electric booster) and the room controller Mipro Sense for convenient heating control. The hot water storage tank is not part of this set and must be added separately in the case of a need for DHW heating (e.g., an indirectly heated tank of appropriate size).

Why a monoblock with refrigerant R290

The monoblock configuration has an advantage over the split system in terms of simpler and faster installation – since the refrigerant circuit is hermetically sealed and filled from the factory, there is no need to interfere with the refrigerant circuit at the installation site. Refrigerant R290 (propane) is a natural substance with minimal impact on the environment, which at the same time allows the unit to operate with high efficiency even at lower outdoor temperatures, which is reflected in the achieved energy efficiency class A+++ A.

Installation and service

Despite the simpler installation compared to split systems, we recommend that the installation, hydraulic connection and commissioning be carried out by an authorized Protherm service partner – this is a condition for the extended warranty after registration of the device with the manufacturer. Before ordering, we recommend verifying the heat loss of the building to ensure that the selected power range corresponds to the actual heating and hot water needs.

Placement and operation of the outdoor unit

We recommend placing the monoblock unit on a solid, flat and sufficiently load-bearing base (concrete slab or consoles anchored to the façade) with anti-vibration pads that limit the transfer of vibration to the building structure. It is necessary to ensure free space for air intake and exhaust according to the manufacturer's installation instructions and to solve the drainage of condensate, which is formed mainly during defrosting cycles at low outdoor temperatures. Since only heating water (not refrigerant) enters the house from the monoblock unit, the pipe between the unit and the house must be well thermally insulated and protected against frost, or optionally supplemented with an accompanying heating cable in extreme climatic conditions.

The heat pump operates even at negative outdoor temperatures, but its performance and efficiency (COP) decrease with the drop in outdoor temperature – therefore, during system design, the so-called bivalent point is determined, i.e., the temperature below which (in most installations only a few days a year) an additional heat source may be needed, usually an integrated electric heating element in the hydraulic module.

Does the heat pump work in the frost? Yes, the GeniaAir Classic monoblock units are designed for operation even at significantly negative outdoor temperatures. At low temperatures, automatic defrosting cycles of the outdoor heat exchanger and a slight decrease in the achieved performance occur, which is a common feature of all air-source heat pumps.

Why choose a monoblock instead of a split system? A monoblock is suitable especially where a simpler and faster installation without interference with the refrigerant circuit on site is preferred, or where a certified refrigeration technician is not available for the installation of a split system. The disadvantage is the need for thorough insulation of the water pipe between the unit and the house against freezing.

What is the difference between the "split" and "monoblock" configurations? In a split system, the refrigerant circuit is divided between the outdoor and indoor units, which are connected by refrigerant piping. Inside the house, refrigerant does not flow, only heating (or hot domestic) water through the hydraulic module. In a monoblock, the entire refrigerant circuit is enclosed in the outdoor unit and only heating water is led into the house – installation is simpler and does not require work with refrigerant directly at the installation site.

Can this heat pump be used as the only heat source? Yes, with a proper energy design (heat loss of the building, low-temperature heating system – underfloor heating or larger radiators), this set is designed as a monovalent source of heating and hot water. We recommend verifying the exact dimensioning with our technician according to the specific building.

Is a hot water storage tank needed? In sets with GeniaSet, the tank is integrated directly in the indoor unit. In sets with a separate hydraulic module (without GeniaSet), it is necessary to add the DHW tank separately – we are happy to advise you on the appropriate size.

How is the Mipro Sense controller operated? Mipro Sense is a room control panel with a touch display, which allows setting heating and cooling circuits, time programs and monitoring the operation. The system is prepared for connection to an internet gateway for remote control via a mobile app (purchased separately, if not part of the set).
