Vaillant aroTHERM VWL Split plus 35/8.2 230V is the outdoor unit of the air-to-water heat pump SPLIT system from the aroTHERM Split plus product range. It is the smallest performance level in this series, primarily intended for smaller family homes, apartments, and renovated buildings with lower heat loss, where the outdoor unit needs to be discreetly installed with minimal noise.
SPLIT system versus monoblock – what is the difference
Unlike monoblock heat pumps, where the entire refrigeration and hydraulic circuit (including the water-refrigerant heat exchanger) is located directly in the outdoor unit and only heated water is led into the house, the SPLIT system aroTHERM Split plus operates differently. The outdoor unit VWL 35/8.2 contains the compressor, evaporator, and fan – that is, the refrigeration circuit, which operates with refrigerant R32. This refrigerant is piped (not heated water) to a separate indoor hydraulic unit (e.g., the VWL ...IS series), which is located inside the building – in a technical room, boiler room, or other suitable space.
The advantage of this solution is that freezing of water in the pipes outside the house is not a risk (the refrigerant circuit does not freeze), the outdoor unit is more compact and quieter, and the indoor unit can also carry a hot water storage tank or an electric auxiliary heating element. Installation and assembly
The outdoor unit is installed on a solid foundation or wall/ground consoles with sufficient clearance from obstacles (air intake and exhaust), to prevent recirculation of cooled air and ice formation. - soldered in a protective nitrogen atmosphere,
