Building or renovating your home? Don't forget one important detail: the thermostat. It senses the room temperature and switches the heating on or off according to the set temperature that suits your preferences. It often comes in useful on hot summer days too, for controlling the air conditioning. The range of thermostats available is very wide indeed, and on the market you will find both simple and sophisticated models with features that many a demanding user will appreciate.

Don't be tied down by cables
Wireless models are becoming an increasingly sought-after type of thermostat. Perhaps their greatest advantage is flexibility, as they do not have to be fixed to the wall. You simply place them wherever suits you best. You also avoid having to chase cables into the wall, which you will appreciate above all when renovating your home. So if you would like to control your heating without wrestling with bundles of cables, go for a wireless thermostat. As well as controlling the heating temperature in the room it is in, it also acts as a transmitter.

Reliability has a name: Salus T105RF
A popular wireless controller is the programmable room thermostat Salus T105RF. It lets you set a programme for a period of one week, with a different programme or timing for each day if you wish. You can also set two temperature levels: a comfort temperature for heating during the day and a setback temperature, which you might choose for the night, for example.
The Salus T105RF thermostat also has advanced functions. The boiler switching differential setting is used to define the exact difference between switching on and switching off, which prevents the boiler from cycling needlessly and so reduces wear. You will also appreciate the manual mode setting, in which the controller can be set to heat immediately even during setback mode. The thermostat also includes frost protection at 7°C, which will be especially welcome to owners of weekend houses and cottages.

Simple design and simple operation are what count
The Salus T105RF thermostat has a simple design that will not spoil the look or atmosphere of your interior. On the front you will find the buttons for operating and resetting the thermostat and a backlit LCD display. The display shows the boiler-on, heating and setback indicators, the current and set temperatures, the selected programme, the number of the day of the week and the current time. If, despite the built-in stand, you decide to mount the Salus T105RF on the wall, the holes on the back of the thermostat will help.
Getting the thermostat started is simple too. Press the internal catch with a thin screwdriver to release the back cover and insert the AA batteries supplied. The thermostat then starts automatically and you can use the buttons to set the time and programme the temperature to suit your preferences.

Don't forget to pair it with the receiver
The thermostat comes with a receiver, which has to be connected to the boiler. On the front there is an ON/OFF switch and LED indicators that light up when the receiver is switched on. On the back there are holes for wall mounting. Using a screwdriver, release the back cover, beneath which you will find the terminals for the electrical wiring. There is also a DIP switch here, on which you set the communication code to match the code on the transmitter.

The Salus T105RF room controller can be connected to almost all gas and electric boilers, as well as wood, pellet and coal boilers, that support on/off switching. Thanks to its 16A rating, the thermostat can also switch other high-power appliances such as convector heaters, infrared heaters, air conditioning units and circulation pumps. Reliability and simple installation are a welcome bonus that makes the Salus T105RF wireless thermostat stand out. Programme your heating a week ahead and enjoy a wireless thermostat with an attractive design and a backlit display.
