Column filter for sludge removal from water IVAR.DESAND 320-5 – WSCI unit with 5 buttons, 6/4" connection
Code: IVA.632.DS5Product detailed description
The IVAR.DESAND 320-5 column filter is used to remove sludge from drinking and domestic water. The retained impurities are flushed out of the bed to the drain by backwashing (BACKWASH) – only rinse water is used for regeneration and nothing is added to the water. The filter can be combined with dosing pumps.
Size 320
- dimensions: 545 × 545 × 2106 mm; leave at least 200 mm above the filter plus space for the connections
- inlet/outlet connection: 6/4"
- max. operating pressure 6 bar, treated water temperature 5 – 35 °C
- installation in a dry place at 5 – 40 °C air temperature on a level surface
Operating the WSCI unit
The unit controls regeneration by time or by volume. SET CLOCK sets the current time, NEXT and the arrows are used to scroll through the menu, and holding REGEN for 3 seconds starts an immediate manual regeneration. A short press of REGEN schedules regeneration for the next set time. The operating parameters are entered by the technician during commissioning.
Installation and start-up
A mechanical impurity filter with a 60 – 20 µm cartridge (e.g. GEL.DEPURA) is installed after the filter, shut-off valves, pressure gauges and sampling valves at the inlet and outlet, and the whole system gets a lockable bypass. A sewer connection, a 230 V socket and, for flushing, at least 3 bar at a flow of 3.6 m³/h for 20 – 30 minutes are required. Before start-up the filter is flushed with the outlet closed until clear water runs from the drain. During commissioning an oxidising agent is dosed with the DP1 pump; the setting is carried out by a technician from an authorised company.

Frequently asked questions
Does the DESAND filter need salt or chemicals for regeneration?
No, the bed is regenerated with rinse water only. The filter must therefore be permanently connected to a drain of sufficient capacity.
What has to be installed after the filter?
A mechanical impurity filter with a cartridge of 60 – 20 µm porosity, for example GEL.DEPURA. The installation also includes shut-off valves, pressure gauges, sampling valves and a bypass.
What water pressure and flow must be available?
Regular flushing requires at least 3 bar and a flow of 3.6 m³/h for about 20 to 30 minutes.
Who commissions the filter?
The customer flushes the filter before start-up; setting and commissioning, including dosing of the oxidising agent with the DP1 pump, are carried out by a technician from an authorised company. Otherwise the right to warranty repairs is lost.

IVAR designs, develops and manufactures highly energy-efficient heating and plumbing systems. We have over 10,000 catalogue items - mass-produced products and unique items - in addition to customised systems and combinations of complex products. And it’s all “Made in Italy”.
Vision
To make life easier for our clients, our clients' customers and our employees, thanks to our ability to be constantly innovative.
Mission
To design and manufacture advanced hydronic solutions that reduce installation complexity and energy consumption.
“Made in Italy” adds value
IVAR has been producing heating and plumbing system components since 1985: valves for heating bodies, direct heat metering modules, heat cost allocators, pipes and fittings, substations for heating systems, distribution manifolds, radiant panel systems, and components for solar and geothermal systems. And it’s all “Made in Italy”.
Over 200 people are employed at our manufacturing facilities in Prevalle (in northern Italy’s Brescia province). The site has been designed to streamline our many production and operational stages.
The Italian headquarters also acts as a hub for the wider IVAR Group, set up with the goal of distributing products beyond Italy’s borders. The group now has 11 branches, in Australia, Belgium, China, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, the United States and Tunisia.
Know How
Research, development and numerous laboratory tests guarantee that our clients’ requests can be translated into new high-efficiency products.
The stages required for production take place internally, beginning with hot forming, which is carried out at our subsidiary Valmon Stampati. Our continuous implementation of projects under the Industry 4.0 initiative also allows us to take full advantage of new releases in technology and IT to improve our manufacturing efficiency.
As a company, IVAR is constantly evolving. Every day, we invest in strengthening our products, in improving our production processes and in attaining new patents and certifications.
