The heat pump Vaillant flexoTHERM exclusive VWF 117/4 is a highly efficient ground/water (or water/water) heat pump of the fourth generation of the flexoTHERM exclusive series, designed for larger family homes with higher heat loss. The indoor unit is compact and exceptionally quiet, allowing it to be placed directly in the technical room without the need for external installation. Thanks to the wide performance range of the entire series (from 5.7 kW to more than 19 kW), it is possible to choose exactly the model that matches the heat loss of a specific building – the model VWF 117/4 is intended for larger family homes or buildings with higher performance requirements.

The system controller sensoCOMFORT 720 with a color touch display controls the entire heating system – hot water preparation, equithermal control, multiple heating circuits and summer mode of active cooling. It allows setting weekly time programs and provides an overview of the current consumption and performance of the system.
The internet gateway VR 940f connects the heat pump to the home WiFi network and the internet, allowing the entire system to be controlled remotely from a mobile app – changing the temperature, heating schedule or hot water preparation is thus available from anywhere. An authorized service technician can also remotely diagnose any potential fault via the gateway without the need for an immediate site visit.
Installation and heat source
The model VWF 117/4 is connected to a low-temperature heat source according to the geological conditions of the site – a ground loop collector, vertical geothermal boreholes or a well – in the case of groundwater use. Due to the higher output of this model, it is especially important to accurately calculate the required area or depth of boreholes when designing the ground loop or boreholes to ensure sufficient regeneration of the heat source during the heating season.
The indoor unit is installed in a technical room, boiler room or basement with sufficient space for service access. For hot water preparation, we recommend combining it with a larger volume storage heater, or with two storage heaters in the case of higher hot water consumption. Installation and commissioning may only be carried out by an authorized service organization with Vaillant training, which ensures correct hydraulic connection, controller setup and delivery of the warranty card.

Can the heat pump also be used for cooling in summer?
Yes, flexoTHERM exclusive has a standard integrated function of active cooling (natural cooling), which in summer can cool the interior in a mild way through the same distribution that is used for heating in winter.
Is a building permit required for drilling or a collector?
For vertical geothermal boreholes, it is usually necessary to report geological work to the relevant authority, while for a ground loop, the administration is simpler. For the performance of this model, we recommend obtaining an accurate geological assessment.
What is the lifespan and warranty?
With regular service, the lifespan of the Vaillant heat pump is typically 20 or more years, the SCROLL type compressor is highly reliable. A 2-year legal warranty applies to the product, an extended warranty can be agreed with an authorized service partner upon fulfillment of the conditions for regular service inspections.
Can the heat pump be controlled from a phone?
