VAILLANT multiMATIC 700 - weather-compensated (equithermal) controller

Intelligent control of the whole systemVAILLANT multiMATIC 700
The new systemwide weather-compensated multiMATIC 700 controller features a clean design and simple, intuitive operation via a rotary navigation dial. It is intended for households as well as more complex systems. It can be used in combination with almost all Vaillant heating systems, and with the appropriate modules also in combined hybrid systems, including solar heating and a ventilation unit with heat recovery. For easier operation it is equipped with a backlit text display, which also shows the solar yield, the heat pump's energy yield, and energy consumption.

Convenient remote control of heating
The multiMATIC 700 controller is programmed to provide households with high comfort and efficiency. If the heating system is combined with the VR 920 internet communication module, it can easily be controlled remotely - using a Wi-Fi connection and the multiMATIC app for smartphone and tablet. Preset profiles such as "Home", "Night", or "Away" make it easier to control the system according to individual needs. Another plus: the option of remote diagnostics and optimisation of heating operation under a contract with the relevant Vaillant service technician, which saves both time and money.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How exactly do I choose the output of a VAILLANT condensing boiler? The starting point is the calculated heat loss of the heated building (most reliably from the project documentation or an energy certificate). If you don't have a project, you can estimate around 60-100 W per m² of floor area for a normally insulated house built after 2000, or 100-150 W/m² for an older, uninsulated house - the exact figure varies depending on the number of floors, ceiling height, the number and quality of windows, and the building's orientation. An oversized boiler switches on and off more often (so-called cycling), which shortens its service life and reduces efficiency; an undersized boiler, on the other hand, cannot heat the house sufficiently on frosty days.
  • Why is a condensing boiler more economical than a conventional one? A condensing boiler also makes use of the heat hidden in the water vapour produced when gas is burned - in a conventional boiler this leaves unused through the flue, while in a condensing boiler it is cooled below the so-called dew point, the vapour condenses, and the released heat is returned to the heating circuit. As a result, condensing boilers reach an efficiency of around 105-110% relative to the calorific value of the gas, compared with the usual 85-92% for conventional boilers.
  • What type of flue gas discharge does this boiler need? Most modern condensing boilers are so-called turbo boilers (with a sealed combustion chamber) and require a coaxial (concentric) or separate flue gas discharge and combustion air supply routed through the perimeter wall or roof - so a functional chimney is not needed. You will find the exact type and maximum length of the flue run (depending on the 60/100 or 80/125 mm diameter) in the technical documentation for the specific model, or you can consult our customer service.
  • What does the ErP energy class shown for the boiler mean? This is the mandatory efficiency label for heating appliances under the EU ErP (Ecodesign) directive, similar to the energy labels used for refrigerators. Condensing boilers commonly achieve class A, or higher in combination with room control (e.g. A+ when using weather-compensated control together with a room thermostat).
  • Can I install and connect this boiler myself? No. Connection to the natural gas supply, the electrical network, and the flue gas discharge must by law be carried out exclusively by a person with the relevant authorisation (most often an authorised service technician of the given brand or a gas appliance inspection technician). After installation, the boiler must be commissioned by the manufacturer's authorised service, which is also usually a condition for the warranty to be valid.
  • What about servicing and the warranty? Most manufacturers require a regular annual service inspection by an authorised service provider in order to keep the warranty valid beyond its standard expiry (an extended warranty for regular servicing is common especially with the Vaillant, Protherm, and Viessmann brands). You will find the exact warranty terms in the warranty certificate supplied with the boiler.
  • What is included in the delivery of this specific product? The exact package contents (the boiler itself, possibly a hot water cylinder, room control, and other accessories in the case of a set) are stated in the product name and in its technical parameters above on this page.

Hi, does this set come with the multiMATIC 700 controller included or do I need to buy it separately?
A Avatar of author 10/09/2026 13:45
The multiMATIC 700 is part of this set, so you get the ecoCOMPACT unit, the controller, and the connection kit all together in one package. No need to source anything extra for the basic setup — it's all bundled in.

Easter Bunny in the logo - intended for the success of the company

Pink dwarfs and cute animals stand around and admire the miracle of the egg. Johann Vaillant is fascinated by the scene and decides to buy both the picture and the copyright. For Vaillant, this means the establishment of its brand and an extremely successful story.

Very distinctive brand profile

Since 1899, the motif has adorned all products, catalogs and brochures. In a few short years, Vaillant built an excellent reputation that spread throughout Germany and even beyond its borders. Vaillant gave its logo clear lines and outlines. "The Bunny in the Egg" remains the central theme, but the word "Vaillant" is added.

Many Germans know that the Vaillant Bunny belongs to a company based in North Rhine-Westphalia. Moreover: more than 70% of all Germans have heard of the company Vaillant. In Austria and the Netherlands, the company achieves similar results for its image.
