calculate Underfloor heating control configurator

Below you will find further products that you may also need for installing underfloor heating

Underfloor heating, or floor heating, is nowadays regarded as the most efficient way of heating a house or flat. This is mainly thanks to its unique properties and advantages, such as even heat distribution across the whole floor area, which can never be achieved with radiators. You can also use any kind of tiles or floor covering, with the exception of carpets.  Installing underfloor heating is very simple, as all you need is polystyrene for underfloor heating, in other words system insulation boards. Underfloor heating can be controlled in just the same way as radiator heating, although with a different response time, since warming up the floor always takes longer.

Hello, I would like to ask for your advice. We have a stove with a back boiler of approx. 15 kW, a Haas Sohn Tanaga 3, connected to radiators - BUT once it stops burning, the house is cold by morning. Would it be possible, if we bought your buffer tank, to connect it so that when the stove stops producing heat at around midnight, the water heated in the buffer tank is released into the radiators and they stay warm until morning?

Hello, my mum has a gas boiler at home in the bathroom above the washing machine. It keeps breaking down and the flue gases are not taken outside through a chimney. She needs a new one; I recommended one with a hot water cylinder too, but the main thing is that the flue gases go outside and do not stay indoors. There is a chimney built right next to the boiler. Do you have anything like that, please?

Hello, so if I understand correctly, Aquaplus simply has a nicer design ... Trend has better insulation and the 120 BKO is for a gas boiler ??? I am looking for a water heater with combined heating, electricity and a buffer tank .... is that the best I have found ??? Thank you

Hello, I am forwarding the information from the supplier: "There is a slight difference in design between the Trend and the Aquaplus, and the Trend is a slightly higher range – thicker insulation. P and L stand for right and left. They are wall-hung, vertical combined water heaters. The water is heated by electric heating elements or by a tubular heat exchanger. The Trend 120 BKO is a floor-standing water heater suitable for placing beneath a wall-hung boiler, e.g. a gas one. It is an indirectly heated water heater." Have a nice day.

Hello, dry underfloor heating is a type of heating that is not embedded in concrete, which means it is better suited to a floating floor or parquet. In any case, we always recommend using OSB board here to create a level, firm base and only then laying the floor / parquet. Have a nice day.

Hello. I would like to request a quotation for the material for underfloor heating. The floor area is 110 m2. UHP 55 boards. A 9-way manifold is enough for me. Is Pex-al-Pex16x2 pipe sufficient for the water distribution? If so, please add 40m to the heating pipe. If 20x2 is better, then 40m of that pipe. Hello, as I like your product range, I would like to ask you to price up underfloor heating for a family house. I am attaching the floor plan of the house and a more detailed specification of the building. It is a single-storey bungalow of approx. 120m2, heat loss of the building 2943 W. Gas condensing boiler (for the time being I have decided on the BAXI Luna platinum+ 1.18 + a cylinder of max. 150L). 10 underfloor heating circuits designed + 1 towel radiator in the bathroom. Surface-mounted manifold cabinet (as large as possible, perhaps zone control one day). The design specifies 16mm pipe, with a total circuit length including the feeds of 440m; I would rather allow for 500 linear metres (I will leave the type of pipe to you, something middle of the range). Laid on a grid-printed foil + tacker clips, the insulation will be EPS. Please send me a quotation for the material and, if possible, also for a boiler and cylinder set + the material needed to connect the manifold to the boiler, plus any other material required. If you need any further details, please do not hesitate to get in touch. Thank you in advance for your help.

Hello, I would like to ask your advice and hear your opinion, or a suggestion as to how this could be done... I want to run the hot and cold water in my house in stainless steel pipes, DN 12mm, with a manifold at the start. I need 7 outlets for cold water and 5 outlets for hot water (I would probably add one spare position on each manifold, in case something comes up in the future?). On each branch I would like a valve with a drain, and an inlet ball valve at the start.. I would also take wall plate elbows, pipes, nuts and seals. It is approx. 70 metres of pipe. What I mainly need is a parts list so that everything fits together properly, since I want to do it with this pipe... could you please put something like that together for me? Would you use this? https://www.atria.sk/vykurovacia-technika/kurenie-profesionalne/rozdelovace-a-pod-vykurovanie/mosadzne-rozdelovace/rozdelovace-samostatne-tela/ivar-cs-501-n/ Thank you,

Hello, yes, a spare can be provided by fitting one extra branch and an EK plug. The manifolds in the links are for heating, but they can also be used for water distribution; delivery takes longer, however - we do not keep them in stock, they are made to order - and we do not have a valve with a drain, only EKxEK. For drinking water distribution you have valves here, but without a drain: https://www.atria.sk/gulovy-ventil-ek-x-1-2-500893/ Yes, we can put it together, but it will never fit exactly; it is made up from these: https://www.atria.sk/vykurovacia-technika/spojky-fitingy-na-rury/ Have a nice day.

Thank you for your reply. So I would start like this... the valve https://www.atria.sk/gulovy-ventil-pre-mosadzny-rozdelovac-1/, then the manifold https://www.atria.sk/rozdelovac-ivar-7-cestny-501755n/, followed by https://www.atria.sk/gv-vnutorny-vonkajsi-1-2-2/, then https://www.atria.sk/vsuvka-1-2-mm/, and the question is whether, because of the flat seal, this nipple can take https://www.atria.sk/matica-k-solarnemu-potrubiu-set-dn12/, and then https://www.atria.sk/nerezove-potrubie-dn12/, then a nut and seal again, then https://www.atria.sk/vsuvka-1-2-mm/, and finally https://www.atria.sk/nastenka-1-2-x-1-2-ff/. Could you please check whether that joint works like this? People say a thick-walled nipple should go there so that it does not damage the flat seal. Thank you.

Hello, the first valve is OK, the manifold is OK and the ball valve is OK too, but you need to take care when turning them that the handle does not touch the neighbouring valve, i.e. that the turning radius does not reach into the one next to it.... A colleague tried it and you have to remove the butterfly handle with an open-ended spanner, and then it only just fits. You can fit the solar nut and pipe straight onto the brass nipple; it will hold. The photo of the nipple is for illustration only - it is not sharp in any way. Have a nice day.

Thank you, could it be done like this? For the manifold I would use this one https://www.atria.sk/ivar-kit-cs-200-n-3-4-4-cestny/, then on its Euroconus thread this http://www.aquacentrum.sk/index.php/fitingy/mosadzne/fms-redukcia-fm-3-4-f-1-2-m-inbus.html, and then the hose. I would find out whether it is a thick-walled reducer or what kind it is... since you do not have one in your range. My question is, can that reducer be fitted onto the Euroconus? Thank you for your patience

Hello. I will shortly be ordering some components for underfloor heating from you and would like to clarify a few things first. To document the drawdown of a building loan, I would need a till receipt - not for myself (for my son) - so that my name does not appear on it and the payment is made in cash, not by bank transfer. I could come and collect the goods in person (I am from Prievidza) and pay for them in cash on collection. Collection on working days after 3 pm would suit me best (because of work), or on a Saturday - if not, I will fit in with you. Would it be possible to do it this way? I could not find a tool for calibrating PEX-AL-PEX (16x2) pipe in your range - do you have one? Can electrical conduit also be used as the protective sleeve? Or do you sell less than a full pack? Thank you.

Hello, no name appears on the till receipt, and for the invoice you enter the billing details yourself... Of course you can pay us in cash. We are closed on Saturdays; during the week our warehouse is open until 15:30. You can find the pipe calibrator here: https://www.atria.sk/kalibrator-na-potrubie/ Yes, the conduit can be used, but we only sell the full pack. Have a nice day.

Hello, I would like to ask for your advice and a quotation. A customer has approached me about connecting thermostats to underfloor heating. A two-core CYSY 2x1mm2 cable has been run to the thermostats - the thermostat intended was probably one that switches a volt-free (potential-free) contact. Power has been run to the manifolds in CYKY 3x2,5mm2 for all the valves. A cat.5e 4x2x0,5mm2 cable has also been run to the manifold and is connected to the boiler (it controls the switching of the boiler). Option one: I would need a quotation, or a link to the thermostat in your range that is designed for this - thermostats, 8 pcs, and 1 wireless thermostat to control the hallway, where no thermostat was planned (ideally it would look exactly the same as the others from the outside). Thermoelectric actuators, 12 pcs (the largest circuit has 4 valves in series) + whatever else you would add that is needed. Option two: setting up zone control. 8 volt-free thermostats, 1 wireless one, 2 control units (ground floor and first floor).. + whatever else you would add that is needed.

Hello, I would like to ask whether something like this exists ... I have an Immergas condensing boiler and a house with an extension ... The problem is that the house has different thermal properties from the extension ... I have one heating circuit, but splitting it into two is no problem ... I just need to know whether there is a device that can send water to each circuit as required, which means I would also need another thermostat, or a device that links two thermostats and gives instructions as to where the hot water should go ... If you do not follow me, I will try to explain in more detail. Thank you

Hello, yes, it can be done, and there are many solutions. If you simply want to switch a pump, i.e. you have a separate branch with a pump on it alone, then a wireless thermostat, for example: https://www.atria.sk/saswell-t19-7-rf-app/ and the receiver will switch the live feed to the pump. Have a nice day.

Hello. I would be interested in buying all the material for underfloor heating from you. Could you recommend suitable combinations for 90m2 of heating, with provision for the attic? It is a fully renovated house from 1961 with the classic A-frame shape. I am interested in a Junkers ZSBR 16kw gas condensing boiler in combination with a 120-litre hot water cylinder, 600 metres of 16x2 aluminium-plastic composite pipe, a 9-circuit manifold and a flush-mounted cabinet for that manifold, aluminium foil and clips for fixing the pipe into the polystyrene. Could you prepare a price estimate for me and give me a possible delivery date? I am from Bojnice. Thank you very much

Hello, we would like to replace our heating pipework ourselves using your equipment and accessories. It is a house with new radiators but old metal pipework with large-diameter pipes. We have a working Protherm Medved boiler, 15 years old, complete with an electric pump. First we would like to replace the pipework and add underfloor heating in 2 smaller areas (the entrance hall and the bathroom). At some point in the future we would then replace the boiler with a condensing one. Is it possible to phase the renovation like this (i.e. not replacing the boiler now, only the pipework), and could you prepare a quotation based on our own sketch of the heating runs, so that we know everything we will need (which pipe diameters and components to use where, etc.)? Many thanks in advance for your time and your reply.

Good evening, thank you for the quick reply. I am attaching a sketch of the floors of the house - the heating pipework, radiators and boiler are marked in red. As I wrote, we have an older Protherm Medved boiler from 2005 (which we will replace with a condensing one in future, we just cannot do it all at once). We also have new Korado radiators, not the old column type. The pipework is the original thick iron - we would like to replace it, ideally with some compromise between quality and price. What we do not have yet is the underfloor heating marked in the bathroom and entrance hall, the trench convector by the patio doors and the towel radiator in the bathroom. And of course the new pipework. Could you please tell me, on the basis of the sketches, everything we need for the replacement (parts such as manifolds, and also what is needed for the radiators and the underfloor heating to work as one system... etc.)? Thank you very much in advance; if you need anything else in order to assess it, please let me know.

Hello, I would like a system design and a quotation for dry hydronic underfloor heating for 55m2 of floor area, tiled, with the bedroom - a further 21m2 - being heated by a low-temperature radiator /see attachment/, so that we can use the low temperature of the underfloor fluid to heat the radiator. For that reason, please take the connection of the underfloor system to the radiator into account in the calculation and system design. I want to place the (flush-mounted) manifold on the partition wall in the bathroom, under the table shown. If you have any questions I would prefer to be contacted by phone, to speed things up, as I am usually only at my computer in the evening or at night. Please confirm whether I have understood the system build-up correctly: 10mm tiles, 22mm OSB board, 30mm system insulation board (+ aluminium foil or a heat spreader plate), 20mm load-bearing polystyrene, concrete. If possible, could you give me a quotation for underfloor heating for a new build (2 storeys), given that I already have a heating design, including the layout and a parts list for the installation? The heating design is based on the Gabotherm system, but I cannot see that anywhere here. I am not that concerned about it being the Gabotherm system as in the design. It can be a completely different one, just not the cheapest and not the most expensive, something in the middle. I can send the parts list including quantities, and also the wiring and connection diagrams if needed. Kind regards, Dusan.

Hello. I am attaching the floor plan of the house. The floor in hallway 2 (item 4) is higher than in the other rooms; there is approx. 4 cm of space there for concrete and tiles, and in addition the staircase to the attic will be dealt with there. I plan to put the manifold on the wall under the stairs; in this area the pipes of the heating circuits can be laid in chased grooves. The space between the living room and the kitchen is open, as is the space between the hallways (marked with a dashed line). The calculator on your website worked out a manifold for 7 circuits; in reality it will probably be fewer, but please judge from the attached floor plan. The feed to the manifold would come from below, from the cellar, where the gas connection is and where a gas flue and a smoke chimney are available. I do not yet know which type of boiler I will choose and do not want to be tied to a single solution - who knows what will happen with energy - gas, electric, solid fuel or even solar are all possible - a combination of several, heating a cylinder. The original boiler room was designed for gas + solid fuel. The building is currently being converted and is not lived in. I just need to sort out the floors this year so that I can carry on with the work. I will be laying the underfloor heating myself, so I would also welcome some advice on what to look out for. Thank you for now. Kind regards

Hello, thank you for preparing the quotation. I would also like to ask what the procedure is if I want to lay tiles on this underfloor heating: do I need to put some kind of board between the heating and the tiles, for example gypsum fibreboard or OSB board, or are the tiles laid directly on the plate? Thank you for your reply and have a nice day.

Hello, thank you for your answers. I have one more question: in my house I have radiators upstairs and there will be underfloor heating on the ground floor. Could you please price the underfloor heating again, this time with the connection that will be needed - by which I mean there will probably have to be some kind of mixing unit with a pump. There is 73 m2 of underfloor heating. Also, what about delivery - can it be sent by courier or should I come and collect it in person?

Hello, the quotation remains unchanged. I am sorry, but I cannot send you a quotation for the connections you will need, as I do not know exactly how your heating engineer is going to do it. He should arrange those things himself. Yes, you can use a manifold with a pump, which you can find here: https://www.atria.sk/zostava-nerezoveho-rozdelovaca-fbh-mix-7-okruhov/ Yes, we send everything by carrier, and collection in person is also possible. I do not want the cheapest possible items at any cost, but a happy medium, and preferably good quality. It is fairly urgent, as we are expecting a baby in August. Thank you.

Hello, I would like to ask for a complete quotation for hydronic underfloor heating, including 10 digital thermostats and all the accessories that will be needed, for an old family house that is about to be renovated. The ground floor of the house is 110m2 - 8 circuits, and we want to lay the underfloor heating on polystyrene; the attic will also be 110m2, again 8 circuits, but there will be OSB boards there, so we want a dry system using aluminium foil, not heat spreader plates. On top of that, a condensing boiler and hot water cylinders. In winter we want to heat with a back-boiler fireplace with an output of 25 Kw. Thank you and have a nice day.

I would like a quotation for a studded system insulation board with 30mm insulation; the pipes will be 16/2, for approx. 150m2. I will of course be sorting out the other bits and pieces as well, but this board is the main cost item. Alternatively, please also quote for a studded system board with 10mm insulation. I need information on how they join together so that there is protection against the anhydrite screed seeping through. As this is the renovation of an older house and every mm matters to me, I assume you will suggest the UHP 53

Hello. In this case you need a manifold with a pump and a thermostatic valve, which separates the water for the radiators from the underfloor heating by letting approx. 50 degrees into the underfloor heating, depending on the setting you choose: https://www.atria.sk/zostava-nerezoveho-rozdelovaca-fbh-mix-6-okruhov/ or, if you already have a manifold, you just use the mixing unit: https://www.atria.sk/zostava-mix-m1-na-redukciu-teploty-pre-nerezove-rozdelovace/ Have a nice day.

Hello, I would like to ask - I am installing the heating myself... can I combine the underfloor heating manifold with radiators as well? I have 4 underfloor heating circuits and would also like a radiator in every room. Of course I am allowing for the fact that the radiators have to be oversized because of the lower underfloor heating temperature.. won't the radiators so to speak steal flow from the underfloor heating, since the underfloor heating has greater resistance?....thank you for your advice
  • Author:
    ATRIA.SK
    Date:

Hello. Yes, this is possible, but there are many buts. The point is that underfloor heating needs water at approx. 55 degrees, so you would have to oversize the radiators, i.e. make them bigger, so that they can give off heat even at a lower water temperature. In any case they should not steal flow from each other, because every underfloor heating manifold has flow meters, and you use them to set the same flow on each branch - that is exactly what they are for, so that you can balance the flows. Have a nice day.

Hello. It is not possible to prepare a quotation from a description like this. I need to know the size of the radiators and how you want the pipework done - you can use a manifold or the conventional tees under the radiators, as in this diagram: https://www.atria.sk/clanky/co-treba-ku-radiatoru-so-spodnym-pripojenam/. You also need to tell us what height of system insulation board you would like to use: https://www.atria.sk/vykurovacia-technika/polystyren-podlahove-kurenie/. The UHP 55 is 58 mm high, whereas the UHP 53, for example, is only 36 mm high. Have a nice day.

Hello, we are planning to buy a wood-burning range cooker with a built-in back boiler for the kitchen of a cottage that is lived in all year round. It will be used for cooking and for heating the kitchen (like a fireplace), and the radiators in the other rooms should be connected to the built-in back boiler. We want to use the Hep2O system for the pipework. Do we need to buy a cylinder, given that the cooker has its own of approx. 25 litres and will not be connected to a hot water cylinder? Is anything else needed apart from the usual valves, a pump and a manifold? Other than pipe, elbows and so on, that is? What I have in mind is a sealed circuit purely for heating, in which the cooker (stove) acts as the boiler, connected via a pump to the manifold and on to the radiators, and back through the manifold to the boiler to be reheated. Is that realistic, going by this description? Thank you for your reply

Hello. In theory it should work like that, but I do not think the thermal comfort will be quite what you get with a gas boiler. The temperature from the fire will fluctuate quite a lot. And you will also have to work out the control yourself. That is just our personal opinion. Have a nice day.

If there is anything there that you do not have, or you think there is a better alternative, I would be glad to hear it. I would also like to proceed in 2 phases. Phase 1, in the house, would be the connection to the underfloor heating and the production of domestic hot water (DHW) - using an electric boiler. Phase 2, linking the garage/boiler room to the house, would be connecting phase 1 in the house to the garage/boiler room. In the garage there would be a solar set + a wood boiler + a water cylinder. Hello, I would like to ask: I am about to renovate a family house of approx. 140 m2. I would like radiator heating + underfloor heating in the bathroom; the layout is a boiler in the cellar and radiators on the floor above. I would like the heating to have 2 runs to the radiators and 1 run to the floor. I would like to ask whether it is enough to buy just a boiler + radiators + pipe with accessories, or whether a pump or something similar is needed too. I am no expert, so I would appreciate your advice. Likewise on which pipe to choose and so on. Thank you.

Hello, there are basically two options for the heating: either you run the pipe directly from the boiler to the radiators and the bathroom floor, or you use heating manifolds: https://www.atria.sk/vykurovacia-technika/rozdelovace-nerezove/. In that case you run pipe with a diameter of, say, 20 from the boiler to the manifold https://www.atria.sk/potrubie-pex-al-pex-20-x-2/ and then from the manifold to each individual radiator and to the floor. This makes it easier to balance the temperature or flow in the radiators, and it should also not happen that a radiator at the end of the run fails to heat up, as can occur with conventional pipework using tees. Have a nice day

Hello! I would like to ask for a quotation for dry underfloor heating. It should be approx. 40 m2, 4 rooms: 3x4 m - bedroom, 3x4 m - shared room, 4x2,4 m - kitchen, 3,7x1,6 m - bathroom. The bathroom will have ceramic tiles and the rest a floating floor; I want to use aluminium foil instead of heat spreader plates. The underfloor heating should be connected to the existing radiator heating; in effect, part of the original heating is to be replaced with underfloor heating. The water is heated by a Junkers CerapurSmart ZWB 24 gas boiler. I also used your online tool for calculating underfloor heating, but that is for a wet floor. Thank you in advance.

Hello. Yes, it can be used, but then the underfloor heating and the radiator will be at the same temperature, so no more than those 55 degrees. I cannot tell you how many branches, but allow one branch per radiator and the underfloor heating according to its size. We would recommend splitting that into two or three circuits so that it can be controlled properly. Good day, I would like to ask: I have underfloor heating in a flat of 78 square metres. The boiler is an Attack condensing one, but its consumption is around 11 cubic metres a day, which seems an awful lot. Everything has been bled. Where should I look for the fault? Could it be the thermostat or something? I am at my wits' end. Please help. Thank you
  • Author:

Hello. We do not know how your underfloor heating has been installed. The fault need not lie in the boiler alone. Perhaps too little pipe has been laid and the boiler needs a lot of energy to heat the space. For approx. 70m2 with a floating/laminate floor you need approx. 6,7m/m2 in the floor. For an area of 70m2 that is as much as 469 linear metres. If the floor were tiled you would need 3,3 linear metres per 1m2, which for an area of 70m2 is 231 linear metres of pipe. If this has been met, call out a boiler service engineer and have the flow temperature to the underfloor heating checked. Do not switch the underfloor heating off at night. Set the desired temperature on the thermostat and leave it there for the full 24 hours. Monitor it like this over a longer period, e.g. 10 days. Consumption should fall. Kind regards, ATRIA

Hello, in reality you cannot simply connect underfloor heating to a radiator, if only because the water going into the floor can be at 50 degrees at most. And in the radiators you certainly have more. Underfloor heating must always be connected via manifolds. Like this, for example: https://www.atria.sk/clanky/podlahove-kurenie-a-vykurovanie/

Hello, we have a building shell for which radiator heating was designed; over time we have decided on hydronic underfloor heating. If possible, could you prepare a quotation for me? The house has two storeys. Both storeys are 121.5 m/2, i.e. the total area for the calculation is 243 m/2. I will not give the overall heat losses of the house, because some things have changed compared with the design, but here are the details of the house: 44 Porotherm P+D, triple-glazed windows, external insulation 10 cm Nobasil. For flooring we would have tiles in the kitchen and bathroom, and a floating or timber floor in the rest of the house. Could you please prepare the quotation for the complete package, covering the insulation, the underfloor heating and all the components (valves etc.), and possibly the cost of labour if you carry out installations as well. Thank you

Hello. I need to install cold and hot water pipework in a family house. I am considering buying PEX-AL-PEX with screw couplings. I would like your advice on sizing. 1. the cold and hot water supply is in the cellar (boiler) 2. on the first floor we have a kitchen sink, a dishwasher, 2 washbasins, a shower enclosure, a WC and a washing machine 3. on the 2nd floor we have 2 WCs, 3 washbasins and a bath. I am attaching a diagram. Could you advise whether size 16 is enough or whether I should use 20? Or a combination, 20 downstairs and 16 upstairs... I do not know, I am not an expert. As soon as you advise me, I will place the order. Thank you.

Hello, as regards sizing, it works like this. For water distribution in an ordinary house, a diameter of 16 is always enough. For the heating, take a diameter of 20 from the boiler, which will in effect act as a riser up to the second floor, and then branch off into 16 pipe to the radiators or the underfloor heating. I am attaching a diagram. https://www.atria.sk/clanky/podlahove-kurenie-a-vykurovanie/ Have a nice day,

Lubomír, for the floor use polystyrene of at least 5cm /in two staggered layers, e.g. 2cm and 3cm/, overlaid with reflective aluminium insulation foil with 2mm polystyrene / and ordinary welded steel reinforcement mesh, d 5 or d 6x15x15, in sheets of 2m x 3m; then, using it as a template, you lay the pipe runs at a spacing of 15 cm and tie them on with twine every 20-30cm, and then pour the floor, adding a plasticiser, with a minimum concrete thickness of 5cm to 8cm. It is far more laborious but a much cheaper way of doing it if you want to save hundreds of euros on large areas. There are speculative, unfounded opinions from "experts" here that the mesh can damage the pipe where it touches it as the concrete moves, but the mesh also reinforces the concrete and restrains movement within it, and the warming of the steel mesh increases the efficiency of heating in the floor and keeps the heat in for longer. I can confirm that performance at low temperatures is stable, with low gas costs.

Hello, or rather good evening :) I need some advice...we are going to renovate an old house with a usable floor area of approx. 230m2 and need to come up with the most economical heating and hot water there. There will be 7 rooms (hallway-living room-kitchen in one=110m2, 3 bedrooms, a bathroom, a small storeroom and a workshop). It is just a single-storey house, with no upper floor. We are also planning to insulate it, as the house dates from the Stone Age....the external walls are 50cm, the partitions 30cm and the new partitions will be 10cm. Can you give me some good advice? I would need a complete heating package and I definitely want underfloor heating and, if it makes sense in terms of cost, an electric boiler, since it is the most practical to run...but if a gas one, or say one burning pea coal, worked out cheaper, then that could also be considered.... Please reply by email. Thank you very much in advance.

Hello, it is hard to design a whole heating system just off the top of one's head. But if you need the most economical solution, that is a condensing boiler fitted with a modulating thermostat and a weather-compensation sensor, in a set with a 120-litre cylinder. https://www.atria.sk/kondenzacne-kotly/zostavy-kotol-a-zasobnik/ From this selection, Junkers, Vaillant or Protherm, for example, are suitable. The boilers are primarily suited to underfloor heating in combination with radiator heating. For such a large house I would definitely recommend a 24 kW boiler, and certainly not a higher output. Have a nice day.

Hello, well, I was looking at that 28kw Protherm with a cylinder too...I am just worried about the electricity consumption....do you have any experience of running this boiler? I know it will not run at maximum output all day, partly because underfloor heating does not need water at 80 degrees...but I am still worried about the high consumption. Do you have any calculation of average consumption available?

Hello, with a gas boiler the electricity consumption is very low; essentially it only turns the fan and lights the display, that is all. For underfloor heating, water at a maximum temperature of around 50 degrees is suitable. And no manufacturer provides a consumption calculation. However, with condensing boilers you certainly have less reason to worry about gas consumption than with a conventional boiler.

Hello, for underfloor heating in the bathroom alone it is not worth buying a manifold. Run the pipe there and connect it via this valve https://www.atria.sk/rtl-ventil-ivar-ek-590001/ . It will limit the hot water to around 50 degrees, at which it can go into the underfloor heating.

Hello, I would like to ask for your advice. I am working on underfloor heating for a one-room flat, where the floor will be heated in the room, the hallway and the bathroom; the kitchen will be unheated. I would like to do the one room as 2 circuits and the hallway and bathroom as one. I will also make provision for fitting a radiator in the kitchen later if needed, but only the pipes. It should heat the place including the kitchen, because the flat is insulated and has plastic windows. I would like to ask which manifold to fit there, and likewise which manifold cabinet - probably a 4-way one? And what is the difference between a manifold for underfloor heating and a conventional one, and between stainless steel and brass?

Hello, a maximum of 50 metres of pipe can go on one circuit from an underfloor heating manifold. I do not know how large your room is, but if you fitted three circuits, balancing would perhaps be easiest. There is essentially no difference between the stainless steel and the brass ones, only in the material used and the design of the flow meters. The stainless steel manifold has double regulation, so you could say it offers a certain advantage when controlling underfloor heating. And if we stay with your proposal, then yes, a 4-circuit manifold for underfloor heating.

Thank you for your reply. Which manifold would you recommend? That one room is only approx. 15 square metres, but there will be no other heating in the whole flat, only the underfloor heating in the room, the bathroom and the small hallway. There will be no heating in the kitchen; I am thinking of just running a water feed there from the manifold, so that if the underfloor heating could not cope, a radiator could be connected, but the block is insulated, brick-built, with plastic windows.... I am attaching a drawing of the flat. Do I also need to fit some kind of valve after the boiler that lets through a certain temperature? A friend told me that this can be set on the boiler and I do not need one, that it is just money wasted.... The boiler will be a Viessmann, chimney-connected, with hot water heating. I was thinking of buying it from you, but I have a better offer for the boiler, around 750 euros including a thermostat; if you could offer a better price, I would gladly take it from you. Thank you and have a nice day

Hello, the flow temperature can be set on the boiler, but for underfloor heating we need 50 degrees and more for the radiators, which will certainly have been designed for a higher temperature, so what may happen is that they give off little heat. Another solution is to use an RTL valve for underfloor heating. https://www.atria.sk/rtl-ventil-ivar-ek-590001/ And in order to offer a better price on the Viessmann, we need a clear quotation from the competitor. Either a link to an e-shop or a quotation that they sent you.

I will not have any radiators there, but I want a Viessmann Vitopend 100 boiler with hot water heating. Apparently, though, the temperature can only be set on a condensing one - that is what the boiler salesman told me. But the person who is going to install it for me says it is not needed, which is why I would like to hear someone else's opinion. And I will have 2 circuits there; can that valve not be used straight after the boiler, before the manifold? Or can the temperature not be set on the manifold? Is it only the amount of water going through that is set there? I would also like to know: do you not have the foil that is laid over the underfloor heating pipes? I only have the offer for the boiler as an email attachment. Or just as text in the email. Thank you and have a nice day

Right now I cannot say for certain whether it can also be set on a conventional Viessmann. In any case, if you are not going to have any radiators, you fit the RTL valve before the manifold. And you definitely cannot let water at around 70-80 degrees into underfloor heating; it will crack in no time. On the manifold you only set the flow; the temperature can only be set on this more expensive type https://www.atria.sk/mosadzne-rozdelovace/rozdelovace-podlahove-kurenie/ivar-rozdelovace-s-cerpadlom/ . Try asking the service engineer who will commission the boiler whether the flow temperature can be set for underfloor heating. And if not, we can come up with something else. F And we do not have that foil; we use polystyrene for underfloor heating, and that already has the foil on it. I repeat, to work out a price for the boiler we need something tangible that makes it clear the competitor really is offering a lower price. On the strength of an email from someone alone, I do not know whether I would get anywhere with the management.

Thank you for your reply; I will ask the service engineer and email you the offer. Could you please also advise me on the manifold? Which one is suitable there? It will be split into 2 circuits, but I would like to leave one spare in case I have to connect a radiator because the heating cannot keep up, though I do not think it will be necessary. I do not understand what the difference is between a manifold for underfloor heating and one for radiators, when I have to fit that valve anyway so that a higher temperature does not get through.

If you are fitting two circuits, a two-circuit one is enough, but with one spare, then a three-circuit one, and it is blanked off with a plug https://www.atria.sk/zatka-armatury-typu-ek-550090/ A manifold for underfloor heating has flow meters so that you can balance the branches exactly as required, because one may be longer than another. With radiators this is not needed, so they have no flow meters. You can see it in the pictures. There is no other difference.

I would need advice on a heating design for a family house. Unfortunately I do not have the heating design in electronic form, so I am sending you the floor plans and at least the basic details: The new build is in Košice and has 2 storeys, no cellar, with a total usable floor area of 231 m2. Underfloor heating downstairs, radiators upstairs (a manifold for 10 circuits downstairs, for 8 upstairs). Floor thickness 15 cm downstairs, 10 cm upstairs. In addition, I would be glad if the upstairs bathroom could be heated separately in summer too (or spring/autumn) without having to start up the whole system. The heat losses of the building are designed at 12,5 kW/year. (They may be somewhat lower, as compared with the design I am considering thicker insulation (15cm instead of 12) and triple glazing instead of double glazing.) Expected heat demand for heating: 24,2 MWh/year, daily demand for hot water heating: 8MWh/year. Annual gas consumption for heating was designed at 3500 m3. The house faces E-S-W (E, SE - front view, SW - side view; the north-south line runs diagonally through the house - bottom left to top right), and the roof faces mainly SE and SW; there is no roof facing south. Roof pitch 35° SE, 20° SW, 35° W. There have been several changes compared with the original heating design. I am considering a solar set, depending on price at least for hot water, possibly also to support the heating. The system should be at least a little "intelligent", by which I mean making the most efficient use of the available sources depending on the input data - no needless overheating, making use of solar, ... There will be a fireplace in the house, for heating between seasons, not connected to the system as a whole. The boiler room is rather small (approx. 7,5m3); ideally it would be a boiler with an integrated cylinder of 200 l - 250 l, dimensions 60/60 cm, requiring no additional pumps. Chimney: Absolut 140, ready for a condensing boiler. Boiler in the design: Vitodens 333-F, WS3C, without a solar set (in my view one a class lower would do). I would need to know which package is best value for my requirements. I am not fixed on any manufacturer; at a similar price I would tend to favour a German company (which I take to include Viessmann, Buderus, Junkers) or a longer warranty, but without any "catches". I expect "user friendly" controls. You probably will not be able to give me a total price; I would be glad if it could be done on a sample package. I am not considering luxury or expensive radiators; I am looking rather for quality at a reasonable price, or the best ratio of price/output/reliability. What would you suggest? Is a budget of 10.000,- EUR, which I have set aside for heating, realistic or nowhere near? I trust I will find a contractor in Košice or the surrounding area (Prešov) who is willing to supply labour only, with me providing all the necessary components (from you). If you have any experience in this respect, I would welcome your advice. I expect delivery towards the end of the year. Thank you very much for your time.

Hello, first of all, the Viessmann 333 range is hardly sold at all, given its disproportionately high price. And in the lower ranges, such as the 100, it does not have continuous output modulation; if you would like a German manufacturer, then definitely Junkers or Buderus. They are essentially very similar boilers with a built-in cylinder. https://www.atria.sk/junkers-cerapuracu-smart-zwsb-30-4-a/ But if your heat losses are 12 kW, whether or not you have underfloor heating, I would recommend a boiler sized at 12 kW. This Junkers ranges from 7 to 23. Which is fine, but between seasons, well, I am not so sure. The Protherm Tiger Condens, for example, https://www.atria.sk/protherm-tiger-condens-25-kkz-42/ starts at 5 kW. But if you also want solar in combination with a boiler with a built-in cylinder, that kind of connection essentially cannot be done and is not used. You take a solar set with a cylinder of at least 300 l https://www.atria.sk/solarne-zostavy-hewalex-3s/ and simply add a 14 kW condensing boiler https://www.atria.sk/junkers-cerapursmart-zsb-14-3-c/ . It is essentially suitable for either radiators or underfloor heating, with continuous output modulation. But that ten thousand is more than enough.

That output range is fine. Basically, if you have underfloor heating, definitely choose a condensing boiler; conventional gas ones are hardly sold any more. First of all, you should choose a brand that has an official manufacturer's representative in Slovakia, for example Junkers, Protherm or Vaillant. But there is no fundamental difference between them

Hello, I want to install underfloor heating fed by a fireplace. Is it enough to put 5cm of polystyrene on the ground, black foil or possibly aluminium foil on top and reinforcement mesh, fix 20 mm heating pipe to it - aluminium-plastic composite or whatever it is called - and cover it with screed? To what minimum thickness, and what kind of concrete should be poured? Is it possible that this will work? Then it gets connected to a manifold, and is it enough to connect it to the return coming from the radiators? Or how should it be done properly? Thank you

Hello. For underfloor heating you use polystyrene https://www.atria.sk/polystyrenove-systemove-dosky/ - the UHP55 is the most commonly used - with pipe of 16mm diameter laid in it https://www.atria.sk/potrubie-pre-vodu-vykurovanie/ which you cover with concrete about 5 cm thick. You connect the pipe to a manifold, which is then used to regulate the individual underfloor heating branches, for example as shown here https://www.atria.sk/clanky/podlahove-kurenie-a-vykurovanie/

I heat my flat with radiators and want to install underfloor heating. I would like to know whether you could send me a video about the installation and a quotation. One room measures 16 square metres.

Installation videos can only be found here https://www.atria.sk/kurenie-svojpomocne-hepworth/instruktazne-video-montaze/. We only prepare quotations from a list of materials. You can add underfloor heating via a manifold with a pump https://www.atria.sk/mosadzne-rozdelovace/rozdelovace-podlahove-kurenie/ivar-rozdelovace-s-cerpadlom/ the pump with its valve will separate off heating water from the radiators, which you can use for the underfloor heating

GOOD EVENING. I WOULD LIKE TO ASK WHETHER YOU COULD ADVISE ME WHICH BOILER TO FIT IN A NEW BUILD? THE DESIGN SPECIFIES A VIESSMANN VITODENS 300 + 100L CYLINDER, WHILE MY HEATING ENGINEER SUGGESTS A PROTHERM LEV AQUA KOMPLET WITH A 120L CYLINDER. THE HOUSE IS A BUNGALOW BUILT OF YTONG LAMBDA, PLASTIC WINDOWS - SALAMANDER, UNDERFLOOR HEATING - 95m2 + KORAD RADIATORS IN THE ROOMS, 5 pcs 600x1200 + TOWEL RADIATORS, 3 pcs. I HAVE A 7-CIRCUIT AND A 5-CIRCUIT MANIFOLD, BOTH COMPLETE WITH A PUMP. THERE WILL ALSO BE A HAIRDRESSING SALON IN THE HOUSE, WHICH IS WHY A BOILER WITH A CYLINDER IS NEEDED.

Hello. First of all, it is worth taking advantage of the special offers https://www.atria.sk/#akcie. Essentially any boiler is suitable for underfloor heating; personally I think there is no point in buying an overpriced Viessmann boiler when a Vaillant or a Junkers is perfectly suitable. For underfloor heating I would rather recommend a Junkers with a built-in cylinder https://www.atria.sk/junkers-cerapuracu-smart-zwsb-30-4-a/ , or a Vaillant set https://www.atria.sk/kondenzacne-kotly/zostavy-kotol-a-zasobnik/vaillant/ .

Hello, we would be interested in ordering through your e-shop the UHP54 or 55 system insulation board (I would confirm which later) for 112.607 m2 - 11 packs - and PEX-AL-PEX 16x2 pipe - 1025 linear metres. I would like to find out in advance about delivery options - to Malinovo, Senec district. What would the delivery charge be, and how quickly after the order is placed can the goods be dispatched? Thank you. Kind regards,

Hello. Delivery to the destination is charged at 13 euros. Our regular run for oversized consignments to Bratislava is every Thursday. So if you manage to order the goods by about midday on Wednesday, you could have them in Malinovo on the Thursday.

Hello, I would like to ask what pipe (diameter) must be used for the feed to the manifold. The manifold is a 6-way one (600m of pipe, approx. 80m2). Our heating engineer has specified 20mm, but in the shop we were told we should use at least 26mm, as 20mm would certainly be too small.

I would just add that the circuits will be in 16mm pipe.
