The GeniaAir Split HA 3-8.2 + GeniaSet + Mipro Sense set is a complete air-source heat pump system from Protherm GeniaAir in the "Split" configuration (outdoor and indoor unit), built on a common technological platform of the Vaillant Group – the same one used for the Vaillant aroTHERM Split series. The outdoor unit HA 3-8.2 operates with refrigerant R32 and in this configuration achieves an energy efficiency class of A+++ A for low-temperature heating (floor heating, or oversized radiators).

What is included in the set
The GeniaAir Split HA 3-8.2 + GeniaSet + Mipro Sense set includes the outdoor unit HA 3-8.2 and is supplemented by the indoor unit GeniaSet – a compact combined module that in one housing combines the hydraulic connection of the circuit, an integrated DHW storage tank, an expansion vessel, a circulation pump and safety components. This solution is intended for installations where a compact all-in-one solution with minimal space requirements in the technical room is sought. The room controller Mipro Sense is also included for comfortable setting and monitoring of operation directly from the living space. The refrigerant piping between the outdoor and indoor unit, its insulation and possibly an internet gateway for remote control via a mobile app are added separately according to the length of the route and the customer's requirements.
Why the GeniaAir split heat pump
The split configuration has an advantage over the monoblock in that refrigerant does not flow through the indoor unit, only heating (and possibly DHW) water – thus eliminating the risk of freezing of water in the external part of the circuit at extremely low temperatures and also reducing the noise transmitted to the building structure, since the compressor is entirely located outdoors. The GeniaAir Split series is intended mainly for new buildings and renovations with a low-temperature heating system, where emphasis is placed on high seasonal efficiency (SCOP) and energy efficiency class A+++ A.
Installation and service
We recommend that the installation of the heat pump, connection of the refrigerant circuit and commissioning be entrusted exclusively to an authorized Protherm service partner – only in this way is the correct function and the right to an extended warranty after registration of the device with the manufacturer guaranteed. Before installation, it is necessary to verify the heat loss of the building and choose the correct size of the heating circuit (floor heating, or low-temperature radiators) so that the pump operates in the optimal operating point with the highest efficiency.
Placement and operation of the outdoor unit
We recommend placing the outdoor unit on a solid, flat and sufficiently load-bearing base (concrete slab or consoles anchored to the façade) with anti-vibration pads that limit the transmission of vibration to the building structure. It is necessary to ensure free space for air intake and exhaust (according to the manufacturer's installation instructions) and to drain condensate, which is formed mainly during the defrosting cycle at negative temperatures. When designing the placement, it is also necessary to consider noise requirements – especially when installing in close proximity to neighboring plots or residential areas, where the required distances according to the current noise legislation must be observed.
The heat pump operates even at negative outdoor temperatures, but the performance and efficiency (COP) decrease with decreasing outdoor temperature – therefore, when designing the system, the so-called bivalent point is determined, i.e. the temperature below which (in most installations only a few days a year) an additional heat source may be needed, usually an integrated electric heating element in the hydraulic module.

Does the heat pump work in the frost? Yes, units of the GeniaAir series are designed for operation even at significantly negative outdoor temperatures. At low temperatures, automatic defrosting cycles of the outdoor heat exchanger and a slight drop in performance and efficiency occur, which is a common feature of all air-source heat pumps.
Can the heat pump be used for cooling in summer? With a suitable heating system (especially floor heating with active or passive cooling), it is possible to use the cooling function in some configurations – the exact possibility and method of connection is recommended to be consulted with our technician when designing the system.

What is the difference between the "split" and "monoblock" configuration? In the split system, the refrigerant circuit is divided between the outdoor and indoor unit, which are connected by refrigerant piping. Inside the house, only heating (or possibly DHW) water flows through the hydraulic module. In the monoblock, the entire refrigerant circuit is enclosed in the outdoor unit and only heating water leads into the house – the installation is simpler and does not require work with refrigerant directly at the installation site.
Can this heat pump be used as the only heat source? Yes, with a proper energy design (heat loss of the building, low-temperature heating system – floor heating or larger radiators), this set is designed as a monovalent heat source for heating and DHW heating. Precise dimensioning is recommended to be verified with our technician according to the specific building.
Is a DHW storage tank required? In sets with GeniaSet, the tank is integrated directly in the indoor unit. In sets with a separate hydraulic module (without GeniaSet), it is necessary to add the DHW storage tank separately – we are happy to advise you on the selection of the appropriate size.
How is the Mipro Sense controller operated? Mipro Sense is a room control panel with a touch display, which allows setting of heating and cooling circuits, time programs and monitoring of operation. The system is prepared for connection to an internet gateway for remote control via a mobile app (purchased separately, if not part of the set).
What are the service and warranty requirements? We provide the standard legal warranty on the product, we recommend extended warranty to be handled by registering with the manufacturer after professional installation by an authorized Protherm service partner.
