EMOS Floor Thermostat: Models with Floor Sensor
Floor heating requires a different thermostat than radiators. It must monitor not only the air temperature, but especially the temperature of the floor itself.
Which models are suitable for floor installation
The letter F or UF in the designation indicates the floor version. The following models are available: P56S01F, P56201UF and P56201BUF. A cable sensor is included in the package, which is laid directly into the floor.
Installation of the sensor
The sensor belongs in a flexible protective sleeve between two loops of heating cable or pipe, approximately 50 cm from the wall. The sleeve is sealed at the end to prevent the screed from entering. Thanks to this, the sensor can be replaced in the future without demolition.
Which temperatures to set
- Tiles and stone in living areas: 26 to 28 °C on the floor surface.
- Bathroom: comfortably 29 °C, the floor dries faster.
- Wood, vinyl and laminate: maximum 27 °C, otherwise floor damage may occur. The exact limit is stated in the floor covering instructions.
Electric floor heating reacts slowly, so set the temperature in advance and avoid large jumps. A program that lowers the temperature by 2 to 3 °C at night is more energy-efficient than complete shutdown.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use a standard room thermostat?
Yes, for hydronic floor heating, provided there is a mixing unit with water temperature limitation in the circuit. No, for electric heating, a floor sensor is essential.
What if the sensor stops working?
The thermostat will report a fault and switch to air-based regulation. If the sensor is in a protective housing, replacement takes just a few minutes.
