Radiator fans: when they help and when they are unnecessary
A radiator fan is a thin strip with quiet fans that magnetically attaches from below to the radiator. Forced convection draws more heat from it at the same water temperature.
When it pays off
- A house with a heat pump, where water temperature is 35 to 45 °C and radiators are not sufficient.
- A condensing boiler, where you want to lower the heating water temperature and increase condensation.
- A single cold room in the house, where the radiator is undersized.
- Renovation, where you do not want to replace radiators with larger ones.
When it does not make sense
If you are heating conventionally at 60 to 70 °C and the room is already warm, the fan will not solve anything, it will only add electricity consumption. Likewise, it will not help where the problem is an air-locked or clogged radiator, or poor hydraulic balancing.
Which set to choose
MONO is intended for a short radiator, DUO for a medium one, and TRIO for a long one. If the radiator exceeds the length of the set, an extension set can be purchased. The fans start automatically according to the radiator temperature, so they do not run in summer.
Frequently asked questions
How much performance does it add?
Depending on the water temperature and type of radiator, the performance increases by tens of percent, especially at low water temperatures.
What is the power consumption?
It is in the order of units of watts, and during the season it is a negligible item compared to the savings on the boiler or pump side.
